Harry Chappas
It's becoming rather amazing how bad and also how good some of these guys ae. I get missing a strike at an innocuous time but to end the game.

SoxAce
Yankees are the first team ever to get no hit for 11 INNINGS... and they still won the game.
Autumn Dreamin
Wowza. The White Sox bats have let down their arms plenty this season, but maybe never quite as bad as what the Brewers just did. Burns threw 8 no hit innings. Devin Williams threw a no hit 9th. Abner Uribe threw a no hit 10th. They don't scratch a run across until the 11th, which is also when they gave up their first hit to force a 12th. End up getting walked off in 13 after 10.1 no hit innings...15K, 3H for their pitching staff.

Poor marketing (of stars), young people choosing other sports or gaming/e-sports...it has lost the national appeal and become increasingly regional in nature. And the past 10-15 years of getting that huge bump in revenue from the RSNs is going to get squeezed dramatically with so many households going away from cable and satellite TV. MLB was a top 3 league worldwide before Jerry took over the Sox and then engineered the coup of Fay Vincent to sever any remaining independence in the commissioner's office. Nearly every decision the past four decades was to maximize short term profit at the expense of long term fan growth and interest. Nearly every NFL game is televised over the air. They are not losing generations of fan interest. MLB had zero pay per view until Jerry came along. The NBA Finals weren't aired live, they aired tape delay after the 10PM news, same as the NASL Soccer Bowl the Sting won in 1981. The NHL declined a national television contract or to televise the Stanley Cup in the United States nationally until 1995.

The one thing here is the injuries that are almost unavoidable (regardless of the equipment) with the whole increasing speed/force/violent collisions resulting in concussions issue...or the fact that running backs have 3-4 year shelf lives now. Parents are going to be increasingly wary in terms of opportunity cost associated with a football career vis a vis other sports. The Sox are poised to waste yet another five years before something dramatic is bound to transpire with Reinsdorf's health and the upcoming GRF stadium lease issues. How could they line Chris Getz up with those names and reach the conclusion he would be a full one year ahead of any of those dudes? And that's not even counting Theo Epstein and now Bloom. Or Jeffrey Luhnow. BTW Red Sox ownership already ruling out an Epstein to the rescue scenario. Seems he's only looking at ownership situations but much long-term than what the Marlins went through with the relatively brief Derek Jeter experiment/experience.
