and Hahn kept the "core" together and let the one guy who plays thru anything walk.  You can't make this s%*# up.  It's almost impressive how many bad decisions he's made.  It's like he's trying to trump himself.  You think that decsion was bad......wait until you see this one!

Ron?

Jake Burger is an awful defender.  Its pretty obvious to anyone that pay one iota of attention.  Its like asking if the sky is blue.

Burger hasn’t played an inning of third base this year and only 35 games in the past. One could in fact have paid numerous iotas of attention and still have not seen him play, considering the vast amount of not playing he has done over the last couple years

He played 37 games at 3B in 2022 and was awful.  He hasn't played at 3B this season (including very little in ST) because he isn't a major league quality 3B, and has proven that. That said, we’ll get an up close and personal look tonight - he’s in there. Pedro probably figuring it cannot go much worse than Alberto last night with 1 error, and another blunder that injured the SS.

is that considered a mild sprain, something with a good chance for full recovery ?

Yes. It's a grade 1 to grade 2 or mild to moderate sprain.

The time frame is grade 1, 1 to 4 weeks

Grade 2, 4-6 weeks Grade 3 6-8 weeks.

So it's a reasonable time frame and he will fully recover. These are time to return to play with usually around 80 -90% of the physiologic healing. Ligaments don't fully heal for 9-12 Months. But again that's complete healing not healed enough to return to full activities.

It's a grade 1 MCL sprain. If it was the playoffs he'd be playing next week imo.

They certainly make it difficult to be a positive fan, that is for sure.  The pain is real.

Injuries are not the actual problem. Lack of depth and roster size are the problem .

If Burger cared he would be in better shape. So he is a DH.

For 10 days Hanser, Burger and Romy can hold down the infield if Tim or Moncada are out or day to day.

They need another outfielder.

This feels like Andrus or Hanser should be gone after this or the injury is much longer.

The Twins added depth due to these issues. Every team has them. The Sox core is a glass crystal.

Burger was the sidekick in Dirty Work. Not you tubby. DH's aren't that valuable any more.

I mean, I don't think the personal attacks towards jake are really necessary. He's not a good 3B, and he's not your prototypical baseball player body type, but he's worked hard to keep himself in decent shape with those limitations.

edit: will admit I missed the movie reference that Ron filled in the gaps on.

So, genuinely curious, the minor league teams gotta play games too without overexposing their players. What do they do with the teams who lose players to being called up? How is their spot on the roster replaced? It's not like the NFL where teams have practice squads...

Mondou was called up from Double-A to Triple-A.

I do think minor rosters are smaller but must be flexible. There must be some fringey types like Max Marmalade who can fill in the gaps as prospects are promoted. Even Victor Reyes might have to stand down for the next Michael Jordan coming through.

Jake might want to emulate Schwarber who worked so hard. I question his devotion to defense but maybe it's just not in the cards.

They probably should have projected that when they drafted him... look at his Missouri State days and still looks quite similar.  Has actually lost weight since then.   Remember they have been running that 2B conversion up the flag pole for at least two years.

Most teams would not draft a DH so high. His overall game is not MLB ready. Typical half-wit Sox effort.

He actually finished the play yesterday on that throw from Romy to help keep the lead...he looked quite awkward doing it and getting bowled over by the runner but he did make the play.

f*** it, 3 headed monster at 1B.  Don’t ask me how it would work though ?
