Exactly. Remember how many games they were losing with Clevinger, Giolito, and Lynn? They won’t even have those guys. Cease appears to have fallen off of a cliff, and Robert might get hurt again or have a down year. They could be much worse than they were this year.

This team had a .329 winning percentage once they ditched Lynn, Giolito, Lopez, Graveman, and Kelly. We don't have the spend available to replace all of them.

They went 18-37 from the trade deadline to the end of the season.

Its a dire situation.

Wow, that’s still better than Oakland’s season winning percentage ?

The Sox won't compete next year but they will have a better record than this year. There will be absolutley no expectations or pressure next year. Hardly anyone in the media will even being attention. This is the kind of environment the majority of the organization and players fit in and recognize best.

No expecations and no pressure next year won't equal a winning season but the Sox won't lose 100 plus games next year.  Something like 68 and 94 sounds about right.

I think this is right if they let young guys play.  Let young guys who care and give some effort and they will be improved over this year.  If they actually try to compete I think they end up worse.

Wow Sox went from -50 in 1970 to +20 in 1972. Amazing 70 game turn-around.

Remember it well but it was a different day and age with no long term guaranteed contracts plus we had a sharp GM in Roland Hemond and a very good manager in Chuck Tanner, look at what we have now with a no experience GM and a complete asshat as manager. It will be extremely hard to duplicate what the Sox did in 2 years in the early 70s. Another thing to remember is that it went downhill pretty fast and by 1975 the Sox were horrible again as John Allyn was almost broke and the franchise came close to moving to Seattle but Veeck came in at the last minute and bought the team and kept them in Chicago. Johnny Morris with his Save our Sox campaign (SOS) and Mayor Richard J. Daley did their part and did great jobs that helped to keep the team in Chicago
