The Chris Getz Era

Does 10 straight L’s in April do the trick?

12?

14 of 15?

Where is the breaking point?

I’m at the f*** it stage.  Let it burn.  Just  please fire the dope who orchestrated this mess ASAP.  Getz will probably suck ass, but doing nothing isn’t working.

At this point I want it to either all burn OR Liam Hendriks comes back and somehow him just yelling "f***" all day at people inspires the most miraculous turnaround in sports history.

Sorry I got pulled away.  A few more thoughts on Chris Getz:

He is a former player and has a better understanding how to build a baseball team better than Rick Hahn ever will.

I don't think Chris Getz signs a giant turd like Mike Clevinger.

I don't think Chris Getz would sign an aging horrific defensive catcher to the organizations largest contract (at the time)

I don't think Chris Getz would sign a left fielder singles hitter to the organizations largest contract

I don't think Chris Getz would play a 1B in the OF for multiple years

I don't think Chris Getz would allocate so much money to the bullpen

I don't think Chris Getz will completely ignore the importance of defense, baserunning and depth

I don't think Chris Getz will fire successful scouts, trainers and medical staff and replace them with incompetent idiots

I'm not saying Chris Getz is going to be a great GM but I'm more than willing to give him a chance to prove he can be a good GM one day.

I think Chris Getz oversaw one of the worst development programs in MLB

I assume you mean on a personal level, but Clevinger has arguably been our best starter.

I would hope the same can be said for anybody we interview. I would also hope we go outside the organization.

Now I'm convinced...that it wouldn't work because they've assembled the anti-Royals in every possible way.

No power...one thing in common!

One had one of the very best bullpens historically in KC, one nearly the worst yet most expensive

Clutch hitting versus whatever the Sox are with bases loaded

Sox complete opposite of the best high contact/prototypical hit and run team

Fundamentals driven vs. complete lack of fundamentals and execution

Sox terrible at holding on and throwing out opposing runners...Royals much better

Sox terrible to bad defensively...Royals with multiple Gold Glove winners and coaches like Rusty Kuntz that are defensive specialists

So the big case for Getz is…

he hasn’t really done anything to distinguish himself in what he can control. And he hasn’t had control over a lot.

But he should be the second most powerful man in the org anyway just because.

Dan Fabian is probably the only one left with extensive Sox institutional knowledge and experience ... Dennis Gilbert would be another.

Assistant General Manager Jeremy Haber
Senior Director of Baseball Operations Dan Fabian
Senior Director of Sports Performance Geoff Head
Director of Baseball Analytics Matt Koenig
Director of Baseball Operations Daniel Zien

Special Assistants to the Senior VP/GM Nick Hostetler, Marco Paddy, Bill Scherrer, Jim Thome

A great person, a great player, an ambassador-like personality, a White Sox connection—that’s all wonderful.  However, it’s time they place a preference on bringing someone on who has a proven track record of turning losing franchises into winning ones.  Show me only the candidates who have experience in accomplishing the goal we’re seeking to accomplish.  We’re not looking for a new best friend, a great player, a familiar face—it’s time for a big dog who’s successfully done this before.

Yeah - I will do it. You all will hate me but I’ll just ban everyone on soxtalk who rips my moves haha

I'll never forget the post you made about 20 years ago about why you would want the gig as GM, and why you would be good at it.  Very well-written, to say the least.  Do you happen to have a copy of that?  I would like to re-read it.
