His name was Rob Caletti. His name was Rob Caletti. His name was Rob Caletti.

I bet it still is. One thing he mentioned about JR that rarely  gets mentioned, is JR lucked into Michael Jordan. The bulls were lucky at 3 he was available, and the next year JR bought the team. Without that stroke of luck, JR is no better than a McCaskey.

April 26, 2023

For Immediate Release:

Senior Vice President of Stadium Operations Terry Savarise has instructed staff to deny Rob Colletti admittance into any future White Sox home games.

Stadium staff will request fans wearing a Colletti or Berto Jersey to remove or cover up the offensive message or face ejection and possible arrest.

Fans displaying signs referencing Berto or Colletti will face immediate ejection and revocation without compensation of any remaining White Sox tickets in their name.

Go Sox!

The White Sox have never won a playoff series outside of 2005. Which was basically just a good team that caught a heater.

It's only his 44th year. Give him some time.

And you see what the Bulls were when they were happily rid of MJ. They actually thought their domination was them. They haven't been to a Finals since. 1 conference final 13 playoff misses and 8 1st round exits. Even though Bulls fans sell out his arena every night with crap , he refuses to ever go over the luxury tax for them, instead just lining his pockets with money he will never spend. He needs to go.

The article from a Yankees perspective is a merciless critique of what went down here

https://www.pinstripealley.com/2023/4/27/23699854/mlb-yankees-disappointment-white-sox-2023-letting-benintendi-go-was-the-right-move-the-sox-stink

Quote

What happened isn’t very complicated. The hiring of Tony La Russa before the 2021 season destroyed the organic clubhouse culture that was developing among the team’s core; Jerry Reinsdorf refused to spend money at the top of the free agent market to address the clear holes that became evident after their 2021 ALDS loss to Houston; general manager Rick Hahn blew the money he was allowed to spend on bad relievers, bad humans, and Andrew Benintendi; and a series of other abuse scandals and lawsuits all combined to suck every ounce of life out of the franchise and bring fan relations to perhaps their lowest point ever.

Quote

Unserious organizations balk at the chance to close on Bryce Harper or Manny Machado at $25-$30 million per season and instead spread that money around to Joe Kelly, Kendall Graveman, and Mike Clevinger. It’s a genuinely disgusting allocation of resources.

Additional zings:

  • Sox do not take player development seriously
  • Sox failed to meaningfully change anything about that part of their organization and essentially blew every draft of their rebuild phase.
  • Abreu forced out due to wasted draft picks of Sheets, Burger and Vaughn who collectively after 2,000 plate appearances are under 1 WAR.
  • Picked Madrigal over Kelenic and then spun him into Kimbrel and Pollock.
  • Their other mid level FA signings Keuchel and Grandal combined for a negative 2.8 WAR in 2022.

I hope someone with some pull with the White Sox has listened to Berto, and realized what he said is really accurate. White Sox fans deserve better. Not maybe in the offseason. Not maybe at the All Star break. But right now. Roll some heads. Show everyone you want to be different than you've been.

If Im not mistaken the Berto Center was named after Jerry's long time personal assistant, who died of cancer.

Jerry is great at humanity in the office. And he has garnered support from some because of that. He has no business owning professional sports teams that are required to build an organization that can focus  sustained  excellence on  the field, and on the court.
