He is regularly unavailable, and when he is he cannot play defense and is a threat to himself and others when he has a glove. He was even injured postgame celebrating Lucas Giolito’s No Hitter. Sure he is better than the other DH busts drafted on the current roster, though Burger is gaining on him. If Eloy was coordinated and able to remain healthy playing on the field, he’d make a better 1B than Vaughn based on his size. Vaughn and Sheets are doing just fine this year...they are what they are, although one would like to believe Andrew would make at least an All Star Game or two after Tim Anderson is off the roster. From where Burger was drafted and after those two Achilles' injuries, it was almost a miracle even to just make it up to the majors.

No, look at each player where they are at and what they have accomplished with the White Sox. Eloy is wad and shoulders above these three. Burger has a possible chance to make up some ground depending if he can maintain sustainable hitting, Eloy’s health and head, and the fact that Burger can play provide some value playing 3B. (bWAR) Player (Age) / MLB Games Played / OPS (5.0) Eloy Jimenez (26) 335 .815 (1.1) Jake Burger (27) 85 .832 (0.3) Andrew Vaughn (25) 287 .731 (0.1) Gavin Sheets (27) 194 .

Totally different expectations. In the end, the best teams take the elite up the middle CF SS 2B C athletes and push them to the corners and DH rather than the other way around. Maybe he can get the slider he had in 2021 back out of the pen. He looked pretty damn good his 1st 10-12 starts last year. I don't know why everyone is so quick to write him off. What are you talking about? Burger was a collegiate first round draft pick six years ago, is 27 and played 85 MLB games. Sheets was a second round pick. These aren't mid late round selections or high school guys who didn't pan out. They are the definition of bust, unless one's "expectations" are for Top 2 round players to not not to contribute at the ML level.
FloydBannister1983
I truthfully thought they would not be very good. Im surprised Giolito had the success that he did.
Sarava
I'll go with Eloy. And I still think he will be a stud eventually. It will just be after the Sox get rid of him.

Tore up the minors, looked great as a rookie, then completely lost it. hoping it's because he's hurt (this was confirmed today) I'd say Kopech, his opt out season really fucked him over and his development

It's hard to figure. FOURTH overall pick in the draft. 4th. 1 2 3 Then Nick Yeah, that's a bust.

A mid first round pick that gets to the show and has any MLB career is an exception. That was pretty weak draft IIRC. There weren’t high expectations for Jake Burger. Injuries taking a guy out is a side category to me. Edited May 1, 2023 by Chick Mercedes
South Side Fireworks Man
Robert was the one that really surprised me. Out of all the supposed "young championship core" prospects, he's the only one I thought was going to be a superstar. He seemed to have the size and all the tools. Tnetennba
It’s so hard to choose honestly. Push comes to shove I’d have to go Eloy. Moncada at least provides excellent D at 3B when he’s healthy. If Eloy isn’t hitting, he gives you nothing. He’s the biggest flop to me.
