The MLB Trade Rumors site is reporting the Rays are finalizing a Major League deal with Diekman.

Watch that organization figure out what's wrong with him and turn him around.

I'm thinking Allstar game for sure!

Kind of like the Sox signing Colome (who, thusfar, has pitched a lot like Diekman).
Then there was Hector Noesi, whom the Sox tagged him for a pile or runs one afternoon.  The Rangers released him the next day, then the Sox signed him and he was actually decent decent for the rest of the season.

Simply replacing Garrett Cleavinger, who just hurt his right ACL.

"Over those 13 outings, Diekman allowed 14 runs — 10 earned — on 11 hits while he walked 13 and struck out 11, facing a total of 58 hitters.

Although he is in the twilight of his career, Diekman still features a fastball in the upper 90’s that he mixes with a sweeper and a change-up. Thus far in 2023, his change-up usage has surged compared in year’s past and he hasn’t enjoyed much success while throwing the pitch; meanwhile, he is depending less on his sweeper and fastball."

Bet you start seeing more sweepers cutters and sinkers/two seam fastballs.

I think this is a great case study to see if the Rays really do have magic pixie dust to scrap nobodies into a great bullpen. We know he sucked with us this year, kind of interested to see if the Rays can get something positive out of him.

Not an empirical study, just more fodder for our online arguments.

I wouldn't be shocked one bit if they turn him around.

It would be just another in a long slew of examples, of how inferior and dysfunctional the White sox organization is compared to the elite clubs.

Best pitching coaches Sox ever had were Ray Berres and Johnny Sain.

No one has really come close to those 2 especially Berres.

Wait no love for flava flav.....
