CHGO: Pedro working with Luis on pitch recognition

Apparently, Pedro has been working with Luis on working counts and taking pitches.

Now add moncada and Vaughn. If those 2 get straight and maintain it will be interesting. I feel Pedro holding Luis accountable and sitting him may have gotten through to him

Pedro's fam is from Cuba. I assume his lineage was a hiring factor esp with Josie leaving. There is also off-season bonding in Miami that could be important. I like this.

Burger complaints should be few and far between.   Needs to be working diligently every day at 3B defense.

First of all, to clarify something for you, in every single debate on Burger in here over time, I have been in his corner and one of many in here in the Pro Burger camp, long before these home runs came.

To further clarify my points, the complaints for Burger are more from the perspective, that besides him being a good HR hitter, I would also like to see him to hit for a higher average and be able to drive in more runs through more contact and less strikeouts. As great as Burger has done with home runs, he still does swing too much at pitches way outside the zone. It's not just him. As we all know the Sox are the worst in baseball at this swings outside the zone. Frankly all of them need this work with Pedro. In fact, Jake knows he needs work, because it was posted in here by someone, that Jake was one of the few Sox players going in that new batting cage that can give them off-speed secondary pitches to look at. 

Btw, for the record if you go back to any of the numerous debates of Burger at third over Moncada and moving Yoan to 2B, you will find 100 percent of the time I have been quite adamant for Burger at 3B over Yoan and Yoan to 2B. It's fine for now while Eloy is out, but it becomes a huge problem when Eloy gets back. 

As far as Jake's fielding, again look at all the Burger discussions and I have been as adamant of Burger being a competent 3rd baseman. I stated this a several times in other posts, but for those of you still thinking he needs work on his defense is just not accurate and statistically false. Jake has made only one error at third this year and started several double plays. Yes in the past Jake was bad at 3rd. However give him some credit as he did work hard to improve his defense at third.

I'm not sure if you're looking at anything besides errors and dp's, but there are several metrics (DRS, OAA, DRP) that say Burger is still a below average defender and trails Yoán defensively. I'd agree that he's worked hard to improve, but he's still not a good defender.

I know Moncada is better than Jake right now at third. That is not my argument. My argument is I want Burger's bat in the same lineup with Moncada and Eloy when he is back. Since Eloy will be at DH, I feel Moncada needs to step up for the team and go play second. Burger is not capable of playing second. Moncada has and can play second. Having Burger play part time when Eloy gets back if he is still hitting well, is just dumb

They could always put Eloy in RF and let Jake continue to DH as well, but I suppose that pushes Gavin to the bench in that alignment.

I am sure Eloy is already hammering Pedro to play RF when he gets back. LOL

There would have to be some strict rules laid down for Eloy to play right. One of them would be let to Robert take most of the flyballs near Eloy and not pout like he did in previous years when Robert came over towards Eloy's left field area. Or telling Eloy no stupid running into nets and fences. LOL!
