Burger taking reps at 2B

Yikes. Just do the right fucking thing and send Vaughn to either a platoon or AAA. There's literally no other franchise dumb enough to try this. He will either hurt himself, removing our best current hitter, or  he will miss routine plays and put even more pressure on our mediocre staff.

Burger should play second at home and on the road become the traveling secretary. I have never seen home/road splits like this. Do the Sox have cameras and a trash can at home or something?

Jake loves the Cuban Comet sandwiches at home....whatever junk they serve on the road doesn't work.

Work Burger at 1B so he can get comfortable there, a natural position in terms of his body and health.

You do something like this (or move Tim/Yoan/Others) during the offseason, so a player has 6 months to work independently through Spring Training.

  1. SS Tim Anderson (R)
  2. LF Andrew Benintendi (L)
  3. CF Luis Robert Junior (R)
  4. RF Eloy Jimenez (R)
  5. 3B Yoan Moncada (S)
  6. DH Jake Burger (R) (3rd Base Backup)
  7. C Yasmani Grandal (S) (Prefer he only catches 2 of 5, but will likely take 3 of 5)
  8. 1B Andrew Vaughn (R) (Zavala 8th, Vaughn 7th)
  9. 2B Romy Gonzalez (R)

Reserves: Catcher, 2B/SS Andrus (R), DH/1B/RF Sheets (L), OF/PR Hamilton (R).

AAA: Alberto, Frazier, Haseley.

You usually see splits like that from Rockies players at Coors Field and away.

Like Max Muncy, fine at first base, third and DH.

And that's enough.

2B is a terrible idea.

They already learned what he couldn't do at that position in the minors and spring training.

Not sure this is something they are capable of.

Who’s going to take responsibility when he inevitably gets hurt playing a position outside his range of competency?

Don't worry - accountability isn't an issue around here.
