Capn12
Holy Hell, the strongest union in the US wants to cry collusion because owners maybe, just MAYBE, are deciding to not let things get any more out of hand. Boo freakin Hoo!!! Cry me a river. Did the MLBPA think that owners were just gonna keep getting more and more obsurd every year?
SuperSteve
:fyou the union. What a bunch of asshole. What they are getting now is not enough. If the union does file a collusion suit, and I was an owner, I would be okay with a work stopage. It is ridiulous to see the players union being such assholes. whitesoxfan99
The average salary for a major league baseball player is over $2.5 million, if they are serious about filing a grievance than all I have to say is
elrockinMT
I wonder if I can claim collusion by my employer and that way make more money. Heck I might even make enough to get from pay period to pay period without worrying about bouncing a check. I can't imagine making an salary of $2.5M a year and not being happy about it. My fear is these characters will strike again and ruin the game. Economics 101 apparently isn't their strong point.

None the less getting paid that to play a childrens game, where they are in magazines, and get on the tv. Boy, such a hard life.
Soxfest
I feel bad for people who are off 3 plus months a year, stay in finest hotels and eat for free. People need to live in reality sometime.

And don't forget, after they put in their minimum service time, they have a pension to look forward to also!! :fyou MLBPA
winninguglyin83
I guess the players think spending $200 to take four people to the park ain't enough money.
cwsox
The union is firing a warning shot across the bow to protect its members. Oh how terrible. One expects a union to fight for its own. Maybe the rest of us need better unions.
Capn12
I'm not arguing whether or not the Union is doing its job or not though, cw, I'm saying that the MLBPA as a union is too strong as it is, and anything that happens from now on to heighten its power is obsurd. IMO the MLBPA does not have much ground to walk on, and they are already teetering ever so closely to losing their livelyhood by alienating those that are the most important to this game that they control. winninguglyin83
baseball just enjoyed a spike in interest during the post-season. Fans don't want to hear the players b****ing about collusion and how tough the market is less than a week after the series is over. There's got to be a better way than making the climate negative again so quickly after the series. They might get more money, but at what cost? Pastime
At the cost of a lot of fans. If things stay the way they are, or get worse, baseball will cease to exist in 25 years. Then those spoiled brats would actually have to work for a living.
Al Lopez Ghost (old)
And don't forget, after they put in their minimum service time, they have a pension to look forward to also!! :fyou MLBPA Did you know that when they go on road trips the players get something like $150 a day meal money? That always has made me laugh.
YASNY
This collusion thing on the part of the union is just some sabre rattling. It won't be something that dominates the news all off season. No issue. No story. No negative fan impact.
Bighurt52235
None the less getting paid that to play a childrens game, where they are in magazines, and get on the tv. Boy, such a hard life. I totally agree that playing baseball is the best, most fun, and easy job in the world. But I just don't understand why some people think that it is a "children's game" ????????? On a slightly related note: There is nothing in the whole world that I'd rather be than a MLB player making the league minimum (higher salary excluded, obviously) I'd rather be a mediocre at best MLB'er than the best at anythin else in the entire world, salary included in this. Bridgeport_Joe
Um, not to be overly sympathetic to the MLBPA, but if the teams are getting together and agreeing not to pay higher salaries, that's illegal (or it would be, but for the antitrust exemption). Business can't collaborate to drive down wages. It doesn't matter whether it's $6.25/hr of $6.25M/yr.
