Down on the Sox farm…

Because everything is so depressing on the MLB team…

2nd round pick in 2020, Jared Kelley has been pretty sporadic in his MiLB career so far. But at Winston Salem, his last 11.2 innings has been scoreless pitching in June. It’s a start at least…. Need some of these high picks to pan out someday.

Andrew Dalquist has been deplorable in High A.

Starting pitcher Chase Solesky got promoted from AA Birmingham (3-2, 3.23 era). But he was hit hard in his first AAA start last night.

Noah Schultz had another 3.0 scoreless innings in Kannapolis (and 7.0 scoreless for the year).

I am really excited for Noah Schultz. I know it's only low A Kannapolis, but the stats are impressive: 7 IP, O ER, 12 K, 1 BB, 1 Hit, 0.29 WHIP, BA .045.

In watching some videos on his outings, he is definitely very lean for his 6'9" frame. I'm hoping with some more weight added and proper weight training, we could see his velocity and movement on his fastball, along with his sharpness on his slider improve even more.

I just hope we don't screw him up, because our track record developing pitchers in the minors the last several years is atrocious.

Let's face it, Jerry Reinsdorf's record of feeding and housing minor league players being paid under minimum wage after MLB bribed Congress to exempt MLB from following minimum wage laws is atrocious.

Quote

They spent half the season at an extended stay hotel that players complained had dirty rooms and lacked food preparation supplies, which led to reliance on fast foo. "I've never seen more athletes eating McDonald's" one player said.

That is absolutely disgusting and shameful! Hence why he is such a horrible owner.

Another four pitching prospects besides #1 Schultz all from last year's 2022 draft, I hope can eventually be developed into a major league productive pitchers in a few years are:

1. 22 yr old RH SP Peyton Paulette, 2022 2nd Rd pick and #62 overall at Low A Kannapolis.

10 GS, 31.1 IP, 3.45 ERA, 31 K - Posses a filthy and elite curveball that averages well over 3000 RPM at 80 MPH.

2. 21 yr old RH SP Jonathon Cannon, 2022 3rd Rd pick and #101 overall at High A Winston-Salem

11 GS, 60.1 IP, 2.98 ERA, 53 K - Jonathon has 5 solid pitches with a 60 rating on both his cutter and curveball and 55 on his fastball.

3. 21 yr old LH SP Tyler Schweitzer, 2022 4th Rd pick, #161 overall at Low A Kannapolis.

10 GS, 52.1 IP, 3.78 ERA, 61 K - Has a 55 rating fastball.

4. 21 yr old RH Eric Adler, 2022 6th Rd pick at Low A Kannapolis.

10 G, 9.2 IP, 0.93 ERA, 18 K - 60 rating Fastball, 60 rating curveball and 55 rating Cutter.

A smart owner and GM would be wise to make sure they had the top pitching coaches and ex-pitching greats as consultants at the Kannapolis team to ensure the proper successful development. Of course I won't hold my breath on that happening.

I’ve turned into my dad very quickly.

Until the Sox prove they can develop prospects consistently, following the Sox minor league system is a fools errand, much like the ML team.

That sadly isn't happening until they eliminate this dysfunctional and inept front office and go out and hire a GM from a successful and proven org that has shown a consistency in building strong farm systems like the Dodgers and Rays.

Just in case the Sox need a power forward or a wide receiver.   I'm beginning to think this is more of cause for the era of bubble wrap players.

My dad used to say, "The Sox can't stand prosperity" and "The Sox would screw up a two car funeral."
