No player this year has hurt the Sox as much as Reylo, not close.

Starting with that horrible, horrible, devastating Friday night loss to Tampa Bay that launched the Sox into a downward spiral of lost series after lost series. There are more examples after that in the following month.

Look at the spiral of lost series Sox are stuck in again.  A huge, probably the biggest factor, was Reylo giving the game away against the Dodgers with the grand slam . . . . the loading the bases and the triple today. It just seems like every one of his blown saves/ losses just completely suck any spirit hope out of both the Sox and us fans.

I keep seeing people on here saying get rid of this guy or dfa that guy, but no one seems to want to unload Lopez. Let me get that ball rolling. The Sox need to unload Lopez NOW.

Pedro stop, completely stop, putting him out there. He’s killing us.

Hard to say who has sucked the worst during this "window of contention." Lopez is one of them but in fairness the way the Sox offense looked and the way they have performed they probably lose the game 2-1 anyway.

Sox starting pitchers have no room for error with this embarrassingly bad offense and their lack of plate discipline/understanding.

Yes it seems like nearly every game they score under three runs.  I remember when people thought they had a murderers row.  That was funny.

The Sox have scored three runs or less in 39 of the 73 games played this year. That's 53.4%

Because all of their so-called stars are either injured or are having self-inflicted extra-marrital affairs.

You're right; Lopez needs to go. Letting him go would be a sign that the FO realizes that this season is over. Cutting ties with Lopez isn't a dramatic move, but at least the team would send a message to the fans that it is no longer in denial. It's no use waiting for these so-called young players to turn it around. I was hoping when they pulled Anderson in the second game that he had been traded, No such luck.

You don't throw a fastball to a guy with bases loaded when you have a 4-0 lead. Better to walk a guy than let him tie the game on one swing.

ReyLo has natural talent and is able to throw 99mph, but that isn't enough to be a quality reliever. Grifol is a terrible Manager. He lacks a feel for the game and awareness of situations where he can make a difference.

This right here. It's been clear for some time that Reylo can really only be used when the game is out of hand to eat up innings but Grifol continues to throw him into high leverage situations.

I know why he does it, and why he sticks with Anderson at lead off. He's trying to show his guys he "has their back" so that they don't play so tight. But that only works when guys have defined roles. Lopez does not, and Tim just kind of fell into the lead off role when he had batting champion numbers.

This isn't a.....Hendricks blows 3 saves in a week but he's a closer and he will stay our closer....situation. This feeds right into Grifol just really not having a feel for the game or his team and the negative reverberations are plentiful.

How many players do the White Sox have who can be used in a close game? How often is it feasible to pitch those guys?

Are the White Sox good enough offensively to win many games running away, so that they don’t need their best relievers to get a win?

The answers to these questions spell out the reality. They aren’t good enough offensively to win games running away very often, they can’t bury multiple relievers in games that aren’t close because the only games that aren’t close are games where the other team blows them out.

All good points. Grifol doesn't really have the tools. But he is also misusing the tools he has.

This.

A bullpen has to cover 600-700 innings in a year, depending on how decent your starters and defense are. The Sox have six at best ok to decent guys to give you 350, say Graveman gives you 60 and Hendriks returns to give you 35 after the ASB best case scenario. That's 445 innings and you have Crochet in the "Charlie Wild Card" Role, the P guys (Padilla and Peralta), at this point Scholtens and whatever else they scrape together the rest of the season.

This is almost as bad as when they had two starters at the end of a 60 game season in 2020, Hahn blamed Ricky and fired him to CYA. This may be worse as hey have a Top 3 bullpen payroll, and they knew Liam had cancer in the Winter when they could have added depth to replace him, and they were very fortunate Middleton turned out great YTD.

Logical Closer with Liam out (1): Graveman.

Solid Bargain guys (3): Santos, Middleton and Banks.

Decent setup or long guys pitched in the wrong roles (closers) (3): Joe Kelly (good 6th-8th, terrible in the 9th) and Lopez (should be a 2-3 inning longer reliever, or lower leverage), and Aaron Bummer who was terrible until two weeks ago, hopefully he can keep it going.

Guys who shouldn't have even pitched here until fully ready and healthy (2): Crochet (should be in AAA to determine if he could become a starter) & Hendriks (Hurt before even his rehab began, poor velocity. The White Sox are the nut low at injury assessment and management.

Guys already DFA'd (4): Hanser Alberto (Ha Ha), Alex Colome, Jake Diekman, Jose Ruiz.

Lynn was brilliant today. He deserved to win so he is the one I feel sorry for. It is just beyond frustrating to watch this offense flail away. Lopez has a great run of success and just seems to fall apart. A grand slam homer and a bases loaded triple are his most recent meltdown

The highest paid bullpen in baseball! LOL.

Lopez's time is up in chicago. Get rid of him, please. Or make him a three batter guy. Isn't the new rule you have to face 3 batters if you come in? Don't be tempted to go longer. Three batters and out and throw almost all fastballs up high. He is a horrific pitcher, folks.

Reylo is actually good, we made him bad.  Sad.

I hope once Reylo is gone, he ends up on a team that has the proper coaching to correct his physical and mental flaws to make him a good pitcher. If that happens, then we will once again have further documentation of how horrible this organization is in developing pitchers and position players.

I agree completely and he should NEVER be used in a high leverage situation.  Put him into games like tonight when we're already losing 8-2 etc..
