Texsox
As far as Jose knowing anything about what's going on with Bartolo he probably heard that from a writer and is repeating, or read ncorgbl's song My guess is they want to get a manager in here first, then look at our top line players and then look at Jose. He's at least priority three. I liked his leadership last year and atittude. We're not going to be fielding gold gloves in every position and I thought he was serviceable at SS. He's willing to take a pay cut to stay, I think that means something and it aint all economic.
Harry Chappas
I am having trouble with the Sun-times website but KW seems pretty pissed at Jose and stated that he has returned all calls and that Jose's agent has been spoken to four times since the end of the season. It also says that Sandy Jr. now resides in Chciago in the offseason. I find this interesting.
The Critic
Regarding JosE6 Valentin, I like to refer to an old quote I heard from Jim Ross ( WWF announcer ): "I'd like to buy him for what he's worth and sell him for what he THINKS he's worth!" I don't know if there's ever been a player who overestimates his value more than Valentin. A mouthy, subpar fielder, low average hitter who can't recognize or address his obvious weaknesses ( such as RH batting ). I hope he's gone for good. I won't miss him. Steff
It also says that Sandy Jr. now resides in Chciago in the offseason. I find this interesting. He bought a house here last year. His brother is living with him as well.
Queen Prawn
He bought a house here last year. His brother is living with him as well. Don't they live next door (or really close, anyways) to their dad? I thought I remembered reading that last year in the Sun Times...
moochpuppy
And it's not like there is a plethora of SS's available this offseason through signings. As for Kaz Matsui, Tejada, and the like, don't even consider them. Too rich for a businessman like JR. So who are we gonna go with if not Jose? Eckstein? They've tried him at 2B. They've tried him at CF. Better start practicing shortstop Willie Harris.

Dick Allen
Does anyone here really think Jose Valentin could get $2 million a year on the open market? If its like last season he may get $1.5 million. I say let him go, unless he wants to play for the minimum.

If its like last season he may get $1.5 million. I say let him go, unless he wants to play for the minimum. He'll be lucky to get 1.5. I think the best deal he gets is like a mill and then incentives that could push it to 1.5 or 2. Somehow the Sox will give him more then he's worth, just because they seem to have one of the dumbest salary analysts when it comes to valuing a players market value. If they aren't worth what they are asking, then don't freaking sign them.
bulokis
Jose should not be sign back. We need to replace him.

DBAHO
Jose Valentin know your role and shut ur mouth. The only team that wants u besides us will probably be Baltimore, and umm yeah they're in a better situation that us right?
