For a few years he was dating a reality TV stars daughter which generated publicity then he married an actress, who if I remember right got pregnant with someone else, they separated, got back together, had a child and he admitted having some emotional and mental strain (can't blame him for that of course).

The point being between his injuries his sitting out the COVID year (one of the few players who did that) and all the "Hollywood gossip stuff" it seems the very last thing on his mind is becoming a solid pitcher.

Thanks

When you take a guy who hasn’t thrown a pitch in 2.5 years and who needed innings to build up his control pre injury, and you throw him 60 innings in the bullpen; injury and control struggles was the likely result. But of course, Rick AND TONY got 4 months of middle relief.

Big Hurt really critical of the Sox on the postgame with Oz. He wants young guys who want to play (like Colas and the Reds young guys). The insinuation was most of these guys don't care.

The Sox have no good "young guys" under 27 except for Robert Jr. Full stop. None of these guys including Eloy is capable of consistent 2+ fWAR seasons (minimal range for average MLB starters). None.

Marco Paddy is responsible for the two best White Sox hitters this decade, and all Jerry wants to do is squeeze money out of his budget.

White Sox fWAR / season

Player (Age) # of Seasons (2023 = 57% of a season; 2020 = 37%) or (Games under 1 yr)

"Young Guys" Age 22-26

MLB Staters (2-3) or better (+3)

  • 3.5 Luis Robert Jr. (25) 2.94

MLB Reserves or worse (AAAA/AAA)

  • 1.4 Eloy Jimenez (26) 3.94
  • -0.2 Romy Gonzalez (26) (86 games)
  • -0.2 Andrew Vaughn (25) 2.57
  • -0.3 Carlos Perez (26) (51 games)
  • -3.0 Oscar Colas (24) (32 games)
  • -3.5 Lenyn Sosa (23) (33 games)

Age 27 +

Age / Player / Seasons / Career fWAR

MLB Starters (2-3) or better (+3)

  • 3.0 Zach Remillard (29) 0.17 - Will regress due to insane BABIP in small sample.
  • 2.6 Yoan Moncada (28) 5.27
  • 2.6 Tim Anderson (30) 6.94

MLB Reserves or worse (AAAA/AAA)

  • 1.9 Billy Hamilton (32) (62 games)
  • 1.9 Elvis Andrus (34) 1.0
  • 1.7 Yasmani Grandal (34) 2.94

You forgot to add Tatis and very nearly Juan Soto to Paddy's record...not to mention Jose Abreu.

Not sure which Sox are culprits. I'd get rid of Timmy and Moncada for starters. You have to wonder if some of the guys look like they don't care (Tim, Eloy Robert) sometimes cause of our questionable medical staff. Sox are always getting hurt since that longtime trainer retired.

Anyhow it was great to see Hurt and Ozzie ripping this gawd-awful team. Pedro and the hitting coach and pitching coach need to be the first to take a hike with Timmy and Moncada and Grandal though.

I have no idea of these guys personalities but Burger and Vaughn "might" care they just seem overanxious sometimes. Sheets needs a change of scenery. The pitchers ... I wouldn't keep any of em cept liam and Cease. Need a new pitching coach and clean house. Teach Cease to stop walking people.

I've never seen Frank Thomas as upset with a Sox team as he was last night. I'm glad he and Ozzie ripped the team.

Gordon and Pods should never be on another post-game show because they are too soft and will never rant and rave and throw managers and players under the bus. Going forward for the rest of this miserable season, I wish it could only be Frank and Ozzie with Chuck.

No help in AAA. The 2 teams combined to lose 17-0 today. Smoldering crater filled with burning excrement.

Of course not, when the AAA Knights are tied for 18th of 20 teams in runs scored at 4.87 per game and 20th in OBP at .340. Btw, you might think a .340 OBP is good, but at the AAA Intl league, it's really bad, as .384 leads the league and 10 teams over .360 OBP.

Of course nobody should be shocked they lost 8-0 as the Knights' pitching staff is 20th in ERA with 6.37.

What a job Rick Hahn and his FO did in scouting, drafting and developing the prospects in the minors.

Every GM in baseball wishes they had this type of job security for posting one the worst major league rosters and farm systems both in the same year.

Hard to believe anybody would pay to see the Sox play the rest of the season into next season. To be a Sox season ticket holder you just must love the ballpark experience. It's such bad baseball I can't imagine more than a few people in Chicago forking out money to watch Sox baseball. Maybe people have much more money than I do and it's no big deal to throw away $$ on the White Sox.
