reiks12
Hes 27. Hes not a rookie anymore. This org is trying to fit a square peg in a round hole. Hes not a starter. Put him back in the bullpen where he belongs and where he has had success.

Lip Man 1
If he can't throw strikes he's not even good as a relief pitcher. He's simply missed to much time, had to many injuries, had to much off the field drama and the Sox haven't done him a lot of favors with his development. Another failed "core" player.
Highland
At this point, there is not much you can expect out of Kopech. He has had his brilliant moments, but he hasn't shown that he is a consistent major league pitcher. The team mishandled him from the start. This game was just plain bad. Rounding_Third
Can someone please remind me why Katz is such a good PC? I've forgotten why I was so high on him a couple of years ago.
maxjusttyped
Giolito, Lynn & Clevinger will all be gone after this season. There's no one in Birmingham or Charlotte who's any better than Kopech for 2024. It'll be dumpster diving again in free agency to fill out the rotation. Even if Kopech is a ~5 ERA guy who can barely go 5 innings, that would make him the 2nd best starter in the organization for 2024. He has to stay in the rotation for the time being, even if he'll eventually transition back to being a reliever again

And the hope that trading will bring in anyone capable of helping next season is slim so long as Hahn is doing those trades.
Paulie4Pres
He would probably be a fucking Cy Young candidate in another organization. That's not even a compliment to Kopech as much as it is an indictment on this piece of s%*# organization.

Dick Allen
When he has any semblance of command he is a starter, and a good one. When he does not, he is not useful in any way. Why would not making it through an inning make people think he’s a good reliever? He’s gone through this before, hopefully he can turn it around. I also hope it isn’t because he’s hurt a lot worse than thought.
Chicago White Sox
The Sox should option Kopech down to AAA to let him work through his s%*# and see if they can claw back a year of control somehow. The fact we’re still trying to make him a positive fWAR starter who can handle +160 innings when he’s 2 1/2 years from free agency is remarkable.

Yup, up until they have five years of service time. Just unclear how long he’d need to be down for to claw back a year.

ScootsMcGoots
This team has derailed so many careers. I feel bad for so many players that have come through this dumpster fire of an organization from 2013 and on. 3

Worked well with Lopez. He has to get that crisp slider back...for one thing. Just can't imagine him holding up as a closer though, purely from a mental standpoint. Gets rattled too easily.
