This would be a very tempting game to pick the Guardians as a bettor...but who knows with Kopech and these new "just happy to be here Sox".

Civale has been one of their quiet MVPs this season.

It's more then tempting. The game is only a -141 on the moneyline at my sportsbook. Civale has a 1.72 ERA in July.

Nice to see Andrus starting the game for what could be his last appearance in a Sox uni.  I wonder if they'll give him a motorcycle or something.

Makes sense to keep Elvis until Romy returns, doesn’t make sense to call up Sosa unless they plan to make him a starter for which he is too young and not ready.

Playing Elvis a few times a month to rest Tim and Remillard is fine. Like Leury, playing Elvis as a starter is not ideal at this stage of his career.

Benintendi down in the lineup a big change...especially when he's been the most effective AL leadoff hitter the last 4-6 weeks.

I don’t get him batting 5th either.

Is Eloy hurt, can’t be tired from DHing.

Probably figured he was hitting too good to play. Probably just resting his groin to make sure he doesn't get it torn from his body. He might end up PH today.

You are absolutely correct on that.

Yeah I guess when TA got that home run last night, everything is back to normal. I guess Grifol doesn't think that Benintendi with his .284 BA and .350 OBP isn't that important for the leadoff role, compared to Tim's .245 BA and .286 OBP. Not to mentioned Benintendi leads the team in walks with 36 to Tim's 19 walks. LOL!

I did forget the possibility that there could be legit trade talks about Eloy. There is a scarcity of quality bats on the market . I don't know if the Sox would trade him but it is possible with the right offer. I'd certainly consider it.

I like Benintendi there but Tim is hitting .351 with a .851 OPS since the all star break so I get it

Yes Tim is has hit much better since the All-Star break, but keep in perspective, Tim has those numbers hitting #2. Maybe batting second took the pressure off hitting #1 for Tim. Benintendi was doing fine at #1 and actually better since moving from #2 to #1.

Evidently Grifol forgot the old adage, "If it's not Broke, don't Fix it!"

Bigger disappointment this year?  Kopech or Vaughn?

I'm living off of Andrew's homer from last night so gotta go with Kopech....but stay tuned.

I just wonder why Benintendi was not moved to 2 instead of 5. He is more of a table setter than a run producer at this point.

Would say the same for his contract (2 instead of 5 years). Joins Grandal and Keuchel in the overpay with no other reported offers.
