NCsoxfan
Where do we sit currently for 2024 payroll? not sure why spotrac hasn’t removed Lynn’s salary. Where do we think Reinsdorf will let it settle? https://www.spotrac.com/mlb/chicago-white-sox/payroll/2024/

Where do we think Reinsdorf will let it settle? https://www.spotrac.com/mlb/chicago-white-sox/payroll/2024/ Rough estimates with the following assumptions: Cease, Kopech, Clevinger, Touki and Scholtens rotation as it stands now. Anderson’s option being picked up. Bullpen is Bummer’s, Hendriks salaries and 6 league minimum salaries. Bench is league minimum. Estimated arbitration for Cease, Kopech, Touki, and Vaughn. Also includes 2024 Leury and Diekman payments. So with that said, I have the Sox right around $129 million for 2024. NCsoxfan
Do these trades give us any flexibility to make any B/C type signings this winter? I guess difficult to know where JR is willing to let it go

SouthSideGeorgia
Payroll salary increases that are non-arbitration related amount to hair under $30 million for the retained White Sox players. Cease, Kopech, Vaughn and Touki will receive arbitration increases year over year, which will be minimal compared to the $30 million. Majority of that increase is Benintendi and Moncada. In our “competitive window” phase, the Sox payroll went from $180 to $200 million at times. However, given the current state of the window and roster, I doubt Hahn is allowed to go that high in 2024. NCsoxfan
imo if Bummer is truly sought after id look to move his $5m+ salary for a cost controlled prospects and flexibility on a buy low type of FA
SouthSideGeorgia
If sox have $50-$70 million off from 2021 and 2022 payroll, do we actually expect Jerry and Hahn to put up that money on free agents in offseason? I could make a case to possibly stand pat at all position players and roll the dice with Lee/Zavala, Moncada, Anderson, Sosa/Romy, Vaughn, Benintendi, Robert, Colas, Sheets and Eloy. I don’t like it, but I can see them rolling that out next year. Where it gets interesting is starting pitching. It’s the single biggest gap we have on 2024 team, and AAA. If the team goes cheap, we roll out with: Cease, Kopech, Clevinger, Touki and Scholtens as our rotation. And Clevinger’s mutual option is a risk, but I think has a better chance that both sides may agree to it. You’ll need another starting arm immediately if Clevinger is gone. If the Sox sign any starting pitcher arms on free agency, you can move Scholtens, Touki and even Kopech back to bullpen with the number you sign there. So with a $50-$70 million slush fund from Jerry (?), what pitchers are out there in free agency? Free agent starting arms under the age of 32-years old… Aaron Nola Blake Snell Julio Urias Lucas Giolito Jordan Montgomery Jack Flaherty Luis Severino Tyler Mahle Frankie Montas Alex Wood The Sox seem more like spenders on reclamation projects to me and not multi-year contracts that would command $20+ million per season. So it looks like a Severino and/or Montas type of offseason. ? Edited August 3, 2023 by SouthSideGeorgia
