Michigan tops Michigan State 27-20 in a thriller

Michigan had the game in hand 27-13 deep in State territory with less than 5 mins remaining, and ran a naked boot on first down, navarre got hit and fumbled, State ran it back for a td. Michigan ran the clock down to about 1:20, and then punted. State moved to midfield before throwing a pick on a last second hal-mary.

Player of the game: Chris Perry over 50 carries, over 200 yards and a td.

Edwards also caught 2 td passes for Michigan.

When it was 27-10, I was like, "We got em!", but the Spartans wouldn't give up. Screaming for the defense to knock that last hail mary down instead of the INT.

Thought for a sec the reciever was gonna catch it, he had position.

Kudos to the Spartans for not giving up.

Perry is a beast! Heisman consideration!

The Spartans showed a lot of heart.

I don't think Perry will get Heisman consideration because 1) Michigan has 2 losses. and 2) He didn't play well in michigans losses.

he certaintly showed a lot of heart out their today.

I've bashed Lloyd Carr on this site a few times, but today he kept his head out of his ass long enough to realize he has the best O-line in the big ten and a horse running behind them. Perry opened up the secondary for Navarre. It doesn't work the other way around...

Now if Carr sticks with the same philosophy that I've been calling for all year, Michigan will run the table for the rest of the big ten schedule. I smell Roses.

Wait, so who is a fan of which team. There are a few people who never took a side, and are coming out of the woodwork. Perry will not win the Heismen because of the Oregon game, and I knew Edwards was going to be too much for State. Sounds like a good game. I didn't get to see it. I was at a wrestling tournament at Eastern Michigan University, and they would give us updates pretty often. It sounded like State was getting killed.

as objective as I can be - UM dominated - check the stats and tiome of possession - MSU's two touchdowns came on one play of blown coverage by UM and the fumble - otherwise MSU socred only two field goals, getting stopped int eh red zone twice

given that MSU won at home in 95, 99, and 01 - and maybe 93? I am not looking up stats tonight - I am very happy to come away with the win, would have been happier had we scored that last touch down and had the score at 34-13, more reflective of the game -

Smith looks like a real coach, he called a very solid game. I could always count on perles, sabin, et. al. to do something stupid at least once a game. Smith does not look he is prone to stupid mistakes. MSU played its hearts out as opposed to folding as it did under Williams so that is also to Smith's credit

I am surprised you missed the game -

before I took the grandson home, we reviewed saying nothing trash talk to his MSU step dad and step dad's parents - working on being for UM not anti MSU - did you see Froday's free press? How childish. MSU is going to a bowl game with a far better record than anyone imagined last August, there should eb respect despite the fierce rivalry - enough trash in the world as it is.

...I am surprised you missed the game...

I wrestle for State. We had a tourny at Eastern, left State about 6 am for a 8 am weight-in. Had to sell my ticket too, got $80 bucks for it (could have gotten more, but it was last minute and I didn't want to push it). A bunch of my friends said the game was awful; too crowded, couldn't see, couldn't move, and many drunk kids. I really had no interest in the game today, haven't even seen the highlights yet.

didn't realize you were on the wrestling team - how did you do?

You could have done more than $80 I am sure but also wise to not push it

I am very tired of drunks at sporting events - drunks think drunks are amusing but the same old tiresome drunk s*** is just that -same old s*** - and they all think they are so original and it is just tiresome -

Wrestling is my life. I ended up going 1-2. I got beat by the kid who got second in the quarters, then lost in the wrestlebacks. I had alot of trouble this week getting to 141, so it was rough. It was my first college tourny, seeing as I am a freshman. None of the kids I wrestled were freshmen, so it isn't that bad. I didn't wrestle well either. It was a decent sized tourny, 24 kids in my weight. It was a good expierence.

Tickets where being sold here for a few hundreds, but I only had one kid lined up. He was like what are ya selling your ticket for, then he offered $80. I would have taken $40-$50.

I hate the drunks. I don't drink at all (alcohol tastes like s***), and everyone here gets trashed tailgating. I have seen kids passed out in the aisle at games because they are so intoxicated. Alot of people have to leave early because the alcohol is getting to them. When we turn our student vouchers in, to get the actual ticket, they check our pockets and waistline to make sure no alcholol. It is just riduculous.

Congratulations on your wrestling, best of luck in the future.

CW, would you say Navarre's naked boot leg was probably one the worst play selections in the last 10 years. I nearly lost my lunch.

Oh yeah, and stupidsteve, would you mind changing your signature. We don't need to put people down on these boards.
