Gene Honda Civic
With Miami getting thier butts kicked I added them to the list of once-beatens. Washighton St is not on the list because the are disqualified for losing to Notre Dame. Actually because they are going to lose to USC. cwsox
Presuming Michigan beats OSU and I do presume that, the only realistic choice on your list is VT or USC - who else is there, LSU - but who else? FSU looked bad in losing to Miami but who knows. Maybe they have a shot. Miami may still be in it. Just 2 years an "unbeatable" Nebraska team got stomped in November and still played in the BCS game. I wouldn't be too quick to think Oklahoma will finish undefeated. They are rolling up the scores too much and the karma may get them. cwsox
none of those teams has a chance against OU I have lived long enough that I have seen so many teams that "can not lose" lose - from Michigan beating OSU in 1969 to OSU beating Miami in 2003 and everything in between - lot of games to be played in real life -
SuperSteve
Worst poll ever. NIU, TCU, Bowling Green, and Miami (OH). Those teams have zero shot, and we all know it.

Well I coudn't make a Poll with all those 2 loss wannabes. (michigan st.) So I put every undefeated and 1 loss team..... TCU will be 8 in the next BCS rankings... if they move up 2 more spots they get an automatic berth. And before we go around calling it the worst poll ever. I'm sure i can dig up an old WSC425 poll. First off, I don't bother with WSC/Beastly. Much of what he wrote is junk. And now it's spam. Also, why bash MSU here? I took all the MSU stuff before and after well. I never bashed Michigan. Ya put that just ta try ta stick it to me. Well good job Pikachu, or whatever that stupid cartoon ya have there is. Oh, wait, because the name of this thread is SUGAR BOWL, not automatic BCS bid. You f***ing idiot. TCU could get a BCS bowl, they'd have to be undefeated. Not get to the Sugar Bowl though. I also did not say, 'why no MSU on there.' I am glad you are intelligent, oh nevermind your not.

Gene Honda Civic
Steve - I don't know why you've gotten so angry with me. I thought you were a good poster and had someting to offer this board. I'm going to chalk this one up to something else, (i.e. girl troubles, State losing, not fairing well in wrestling, etc.) I'm willing to be the bigger man and bury the hatchet. However, if you're just angry and lookin' for a fight ... I'm game. (in good fun of course)
Texsox
By way of analogy, just a casual observation between the Big 10 and Big 12 when it comes to football. In a bacon and egg breakfast the chicken is interested but the pig is committed. Y'all think you're passionate about football in the Big 10, it's nothing like down here. I just saw a OU bumper sticker that read I Break For Animals EXCEPT LONGHORNS The driver may have meant it. The local High School football stadium here seats 7,500 people and they fill it for playoff games. People are scalping tickets. The network news leads with HS football. Interviews with the players, etc. A local sports radio station sends reporters to 19 high school games across the area every Friday night for live updates. They report injuries to the players. As my freshman son says "It's crazy" The big rivalries down here are (in general) the UT v. A&M and specific to football the UT v. OU It makes a Bears - Packers game seem like a family game of flag football. So y'all can poll this to death but the NCAA championship will return to it's rightful spot in the Big 12. We got pissed last year about Ohio State and actually had to take basketball serious to keep our sense macho intact.

We got pissed last year about Ohio State and actually had to take basketball serious to keep our sense macho intact. Well true. But my school is easily more passionate about basketball (crazy if you ask me). Last year after we lost in March Madness, they rioted. Call me crazy, but that is a little worse than a bumper sticker. The only schools we have any true hatred for is Michigan and Notre Dame. There were a ton of people selling t-shirts that were along the lines of saying some funny stuff about Michigan. I know the midwest doesn't compete with football in the south, but I don't mind.
cwsox
The local High School football stadium here seats 7,500 people and they fill it for playoff games. good for them. Our litle local college has sold out evey game since 1975 and has a streak of consecutive games of over 100,000 since then and we now seat 110,000 -112,000 for every game. The other school in the state gets 75,000 for almost all of their games. When they both play at home that is 185,000+ at two football games within 60 miles of each other. No one can match school #1 or what both schools do here. Current Divison 2 champ is from Michigan too. Football seems big in Texas since that is all they have. We have much more. In a state where we got 75,000+ for a college hockey game - and basketball is what it is - we are second to no one in sports, any sport. (And SuperSteve, you are a freshman from Illinois - wait a few years. Those funny little Michigan shirts, nothing new at all, the same things are sold in Ann Arbor except the other way around, as well as ND and OSU. You'll see ND stuff next year when you host them. Actually, the funniest and most yet horrendously obscene antiUM shirts I ever saw where in Illinois at Champaign Urbana back in 2000. And the early comments from Spartan stadium is that by and large the fans all got along well, whch I was glad to here. I don't think UM and MSU hate each other - the rivalry is intense but we play each other too often in everything to maintain hatred, just intense competition. The only school we really despise is Illinois and there there is Oh How I Hate Ohio State - back in the 70s real popular where the "Happiness is Crushed Buckeye Nuts" and "Woody is a pecker" t-shirts. Right now Michigan has the winning streak in basketball - 1- and that may change with any game but never gets much more than that and in hockey we go back and forth too many times to count, although we have more NCAA titles, I think, than MSU. But besides the CCHA, the we usually meet in the final four for that as well as the Frozen Four. For the vast majority of the state, UM vs MSU is a family affair and we reserve the hatred for others.)
SuperSteve
Oh yeah CW, the Cold War would have been awesome to go to last year. I don't follow hockey, but wouldn't it be cool to see the game played at the Big House? My favorite shirt I have seen is "OSU sucks, Clarett swallows." There was some "Who's the b****, Michigan's the b****" shirts too, but I would never buy them. What a waste of money. I am more for supporting my school, then bashing another school. They were worried stuff would erupt. They had John L. Smith record a message saying don't riot basically and played it at halftime.
southsider2k5
As to the original question. I think it is going to be Miami because of their big win over Fla St carrying all of that weight in the quality win dept.

While I do agree that Oklahoma will finish undefeated, I wouldn't say it's a definite lock. Texas A&M does have a decent team, with a strong defense and I believe a freshman QB who is pretty damn good and has a bright future. They are a team that could pull an upset. Also, Texas Tech has a pretty damn good offense. Their defense is nothing to be proud of, but if BJ Symons had a good day and the defense stepped it up a notch and held OU to under 28 points, I'd say Texas Tech would have a shot too. Like I said though....I do believe Oklahoma will win out, and then when they get to the Sugar Bowl, they will beat whoever they play, whether it be FSU or Va Tech or Miami....anyone....they will win it. I know what it was, but the fact that 75,000 people showed up for it doesn't make Michigan the best sports state. You can get 200,000 people to show up for a pancake breakfast if it's gimmicky enough.
