The problem is there is no power structure within the White Sox that can wrest control from Reinsdorf.  No decent owner would stand by and watch this nonsense. But all JR cares about is a new stadium that probably won't happen. Security people can confiscate all the banners they want, but that won't change the way fans feel. There is no reason for any fan to go to that ballpark. This franchise has disintegrated. John Allyn did better. Bill Veeck did better.

Major League Baseball should not stand by and do nothing. This situation is nothing but a joke.

I've had idle thoughts on this. Not much precedent. MLB once kicked out the St. Louis Browns owner, but he had IRS charges against him. Anyone else?

NBA kicked out the Cleveland owner back in the 80's for being in cahoots with Lakers owner. Different can of worms. Donald Sterling was a different case.

NFL made Washington owner sell the team, but there were other social considerations.

Has any owner ever been shitcanned just for having lousy, inept organizations?

Didn't most of MLB owners hate Veeck? I thought they kind of drummed him out of the game when he owned the St. Louis Browns, threatening to contract his team. They also allowed Walter O'Malley to block Veeck's ownership of the expansion Angels.

Most owners did indeed loath him especially after he testified on behalf of Curt Flood is his case against MLB trying for free agency.

They also despised him for suggesting back in the 50's a revenue sharing plan, which the Yankee owners (naturally) called socialistic. One person who was listening and who asked for more details was a guy named Alvin "Pete" Rozell who used the info to go to congress and get an exemption letting the NFL form a national TV contract and equally share the TV revenue.

And led by Bud Selig the owners initially turned down his bid to get the Sox in the winter of 1975 imposing harsh conditions. Somehow Veeck got it done.

Tigers owner John Fetzer was overheard at the owners meeting (by a reporter who placed a glass up against the wall next door and listened in) as saying (paraphrasing) 'Look we don't like the SOB but we gave him conditions he had to meet and he met them. We have got to do the honorable thing and vote to give him the franchise.'

The only advanced stat I care about is CAR: Culture Above Replacement.

And when the CAR goes FASTS, we're rolling baby.

Yea but now he has 20/20 vision.

Isn't this like the 3rd or 4th time in recent memory that the Sox have just not known that their dudes can't see?  I might be exaggerating that a bit but I feel as this isn't the first time this has happened with this organization lately.

I can only recall Reylo, but wouldn’t be surprised if there were others.

The stink has never left.  It still permeates the entire organization.  Getz is still a part of the problem.  He had a terrible offseason and made some really dumb trades of young talent, which is exactly what the Sox should be hoarding, not trading away.  This veteran leadership and defense idea that Getz had has been an absolute bust.  How can anyone have faith in this guy as a GM when he thought players like DeJong, Lopez, and Maldonado were worth acquiring, paying $10.5 million combined for this year, and using as starters rather than bench players?!?  These are guys that should have been signed to minor league deals due to how absolutely awful they were last year.  I guess Getz enjoys giving players like Maldonado a nice final paycheck when he should’ve retired a year ago.

It’s not going to happen, but Getz should be shown the door along with Grifol, but it’s pretty obvious that JR is going to fire Grifol at the end of the season and make him the fall guy, just like he did with Hahn and Kenny at the end of last season.

It’s the same ol’ Sox.  Nothing changes until JR is gone.

Well said and for those who are wondering, I asked a friend of mine who covers the Sox for a mainstream media newspaper if JR actually still goes to games and is seen at the ballpark.

They said he is still going to games.

I hope he likes what he is seeing! ?

He should be more concerned that the Guardians are much more profitable with a sub $100 million payroll, 20 games over .500 and drafting first overall.

As long as he’s making his own profit, he doesn’t care.
