A cherry on top of the 2023 season.

But Robert’s top goal of playing 150 games was in reach — he appeared in his 145th game Sunday — may now be in jeopardy after he left Sunday’s game with a sore right knee, the result of an awkward slide into second base on his 20th stole base of the season.

Robert played center field in the bottom of the first and made a running catch before having his knee looked at by trainer James Kruk after the inning. He will be further evaluated Monday in Chicago before the Sox open a six-game homestand against the Diamondbacks and Padres to finish their season. Robert needs to play five games to reach his goal.

The last month, I’ve said the only way this season can get worse for the Sox is if he had a long-term injury.  Just have to hope he’s ok.

Trying to get 20-20 and losing him for half of 2024 would be pretty on brand for how these last two seasons have gone.

Sad.  Obviously it might be precautionary and he will end up being fine as well...but this year has been a total disaster since Hendriks and Clevinger in the spring.

Robert was the one shining light.

It's the Sox equivalent of Miami losing Tua.

It didn't look too serious to me.  Might be a couple week deal, though.  Which would be a bummer he can't chase 40 HRs if so.

Meh. Would be nice to see him get to 40, but maybe not getting to 40 (because of health) would keep him motivated to get to 150 games played next year.

The Sox should have considered shutting him down for the rest of the season, as others not in the playoffs have done.

In a disastrous season where he was the only bright spot, he earned the right to go for some personal milestones. Obviously sucks that he got hurt, but hindsight aside, you gotta let the kid play out the season.

This injury wont be serious but still will cause him to miss the beginning of spring training , impact the start of 2024 season and not be right until after the ASB if at all until 2025.

Hopefully the Sox won’t play short handed for a year and a half like they would have with this scenario under Kenny Hahn.
