aboz56
But I thought he had the same chance "as my grandma" of getting the White Sox managerial job according to a prominent poster of this board?

FlaSoxxJim
According to the Score, at 12:05. Now, I'm willing to give Ozzie a spin, but a 3-year deal for someone with no managerial experience seems like too much. If he's a bust (not that I think he will be), next year we'll be paying him to sit at home while we go find yet another replacement... aboz56
If he fails, he and KW will be on the first plane out of town early next October...
southsider2k5
If he fails, he and KW will be on the first plane out of town early next October... It doesn's sound like KW wanted Ozzie, it sounds like the BMOC stepped in and said it would be Guillen over Gaston.
mreye
Now, I'm willing to give Ozzie a spin, but a 3-year deal for someone with no managerial experience seems like too much. If he's a bust (not that I think he will be), next year we'll be paying him to sit at home while we go find yet another replacement... He'll be here all 3 years regardless. The Sox are already eating 1 year of Manuel's contract. They're not about to eat some more.
Chisoxfn
I like the hiring. I think Ozzie will do some good things. Any reports on who his 3rd base coach will be?

How many managerial contracts do you think Reinsdorf is gonna eat? No more than one every decade, I'm guessing.

DonkeyKongerko
I was half asleep watching ESPN News this afternoon and I saw these words: White Sox will name Ozzie Guillen manager. I JUMPED OUT OF BED I AM SO EXCITED~!!!!!!
CubsSuck1
I'm very pleased with the decision, Gaston seems a lot like JM, Guillen can fire up this team and best of all, he loves to RUN.

I got a feeling this means the sox overhaul this team quite a bit. I'd put better odds on Johnson, Soriano and a speedy ss/2nd baseman coming over to the Southside. ChiSox_Sonix
I like the hiring. I think Ozzie will do some good things. Any reports on who his 3rd base coach will be? i like the hiring too, and as long as the 3B coach wont be Kimm, i dont care. By the way, wasnt Molitor brought in to interview for something? For some reason i thought he was, bench coach or 3B coach, something

winninguglyin83
molitor signed with Seattle last week to be the hitting coach. maybe Oz can talk Luis Castillo into coming to Chicago. in the end, however, let's not forget one thing: We need to line up two starting pitchers to join Loaiza, Buehrle and Garland. I guess Schoeneweis is one of them. But we need a stud at the front of the rotation. Florida didn't win because of Ozzie. They won because of Beckett, Pavano, Willis, Penny and Redman. BurlyMan56
I feel bad for Willie Harris....Loses his number to Robbie, then will lose 13 to Ozzie... What number is next if we resign Alomar?
