Potential players that can help change the clubhouse next year if they become available. Not win the division or get to the playoffs but make for a better product on the field, improve the win total and that fans would appreciate for what they do.  He and McGuffy go into details on why they want each name:

Garfien wants:

C-Austin Hedges

DH-Justin Turner

2b/SS- Jake Cronenworth

So the previous clown show signed Dunn, LaRoche, Parrot, Grandal.

They acquired Eloy, Davidson, Yermin, Alonso & Lamb.

They drafted Vaughn, Burger, Sheets and this year Gonzalez. All the while having Jose Abreu through last season.

And what is the one player both of these podcast clowns want to sign?

A 39 year old DH. GTFOOH

I think they meant for a culture change. I believe they feel next year is kinda wasted year anyways, so these guys could help changing the locker room.

Exactly... and Turner drove in over 90 runs last year and played in the most games in his career so he is taking care of himself physically.

Seems pointless to acquire aging/potentially expensive veterans at this stage. Maybe when we thought there was any hope, ie last offseason. Now it seems like there’s none til at least 2025. I like max muncy but what does he do to get this team over the hump? The ‘hump’ being ‘not losing 100 games’ — I think not much.
then again, you can always sign them simply to trade at the deadline. That makes this exercise more fun and it probably revolves around who is going to take a “prove it” deal. I’d think giolito and flaherty fit the bill and I’d be more happy to watch next year’s dumpster fire with Gio on the team.

So signing yet another old decrepit DH will bring culture change?

This is the kind of pathetic mindset that brought this organization into the lowest rungs of professional sports.

How about this for culture change?

Sign good players who can field baseballs, hit and run.

Don’t ever sign another fucking DH, especially one who is over 30 (let alone pushing 40).

I really hope the Sox take a page from the Cubs and focus on defense and game calling when it comes to the catching position going forward. The Cubs signed both Yan Gomes and Tucker Barnhart for a very good defensive catching platoon. This method is a good way to help develop young pitchers. It’s cost friendly as I don’t think a team should spend big money on C’s unless it’s a superstar type player (Posey, Realmuto) or a home grown star (Sal Perez). I think it’s also a good way to steal wins as it also helps a team’s defense. With that being I hope the Sox sign Victor Caratini and Austin Hedges.

I still have a feeling they'll pair Korey Lee with a veteran. In that case, Lee can at least be in a platoon with a lefty/switch-hitter.

Korey Lee also has 1 option left so not completely necessary to HAVE to carry him I guess. Already 25 though so maybe at least give him a shot in a platoon and learn with a veteran.

I didn't say that I agreed with it. I'm just stating what they might be thinking
