The Mariners have a lot of pitching for the Sox but that rumor doesn’t make much sense to me.

They have a lot of pitching that they will trade to the Sox and simultaneously trade those same pitchers for hitters is how I interpreted Morosi’s comments.

Getz needs to find a better insider to help create leverage…Morosi seems to be in a bit over his head this off-season

Seems kinda silly to me. They would be better off just signing free agent bats and keeping their pitching depth.

The opportunity to pitch for a contender is usually enough.

They're going to have real pushback from their fan base if they dump Castillo...and you're going to have a very upset young superstar CFer who will start questioning his future with the club.

From an MLBTR chat today;

Up in the air

Who says no? Westburg, Stowers, Pham, and Wagner for Cease or

Mark P

That's a pretty good offer, even if the White Sox are reportedly/seemingly looking to add pitching.  They'd probably want a higher-tier pitching prospect than Pham.

Hard pass for me…I’d hold onto the deadline if that’s the best I could do

Yeah that’s honestly laughably bad. Orioles fans are apparently living on a different planet where cheap pitching gets traded for a bunch of middling prospects

The Cease deal needs to have next seasons starting right fielder and a 2nd baseman or starting pitcher with upside.  I definitely prefer any deal have two high quality and ready for the majors' players rather than someone's idea of a haul (4 or 5 players from down the food chain) has no interest for me.

What is stopping the Mariners to trade for hitters using their pitching instead of what he is saying?

Cheap owner who doesn’t want to give away cost controlled pitching?

They’re having financial issues

They’ve dumped a lot of quality just to cut payroll. It’s a damn shame for a team fighting for the division into the last weekend of the season. Fans showed up all season for them too.
