I don’t know …. It was a trade suggested by @JUSTgottaBELIEVE. It was shared over there. It seems pretty reasonable to me so I shared it over there. The majority 60% or so said they do the deal. I’m guessing you wouldn’t be in favor of that deal. Surely you’d want Holliday or Basallo for a pitcher with one good season so it’s probably not worth debating.

It might be okay, but another solid piece needed if Kopech included

Honestly…. I’m not the typical O’s fan …. On the current roster I’d trade Cowser. In addition to Mountcastle, Mateo, Urias, Hays, Santander, and Mullins. In the minors I’d be open to trading any of our prospects. I’d prefer to keep Mayo.

Where I am similar to other Orioles fans and perhaps Elias is that I’m not willing to trade them for a guy like Crochet. It’s not that I don’t think he’s a good pitcher….in fact he’s has an amazing first half. But, I don’t think his track record and injury history are worth the risk. I think somebody might cave and get close to Getz price tag. Right now we know the Yankee said no to giving up the #75 prospect in a deal for him. So it would be reasonable to say why anyone even White Sox fans expect Elias to deal #2, #9, #15, or Kjerstad for him? It’s nice to want and I really don’t blame you guys for wanting to cash in. And honestly hope your trades are bountiful and the rebuild ends quickly. Because believe me we feel your pen going through 4-5 years of being awful.

I don’t think we know that’s the case, but even if it were true, it doesn’t set the market. The Yankees really like their guy and probably evaluate him beyond his #75 rating.

I guess that depends on whether you consider Heyman a reliable source. Bye the way …. Those complaining about Norby’s K Rate ….Spencer Jones has 119 whiffs in 287 ABs.

We have now turned back to Jasson Dominguez…a much surer bat.

I’m very concerned about his K rate. To see it jump the way it has this season is alarming. That type of K rate with just a 106 wRC+ isn’t good enough for a bat first guy. I’d probably still take him as the centerpiece in a Fedde trade but would want a really solid second piece too.

Someone else has to blink first like a SD.

I know you keep harping on the Yankees not being willing to include Jones, but that story lacks context. Jones has had an awful year, as has pretty much every highly rated Yankees prospect.  Knowing this, plus knowing the Sox are asking for the moon tells me that the Sox probably value Jones much less than they used to, so when the Yankees "aren't willing " to include Jones I'd almost certainly bet it means they aren't willing to take a haircut on his value, vs aren't willing to trade him at the level of where he was valued previously.   Instead of panicking,  they are waiting to see him rebound.

So if they aren’t willing to trade Jones what makes you think they’d offer their #1 prospect. It almost seems counterintuitive

If they aren't willing to trade Jones as a 45 FV, instead of a 55 or 60, maybe the teams value Dominguez differently and accurately enough to get a deal done.  The "willing to trade Jones" thing complete lacks context, especially when some critical thinking is applied to it.

Quote

At this point, a deal seems unlikely because New York is not interested in dealing Jones

Heyman is generally known as the Yankees organization’s mouthpiece. How can you read anything other than “Not Interested” from the quote? Unless you want to raise an objection that doesn’t exist. To me they arent saying they won’t trade him for Crochet. They are saying they aren’t interested in trading him for anybody.

I guess it seems obvious to me, but I might think deeper than surface level quotes to a friendly writer.

I posted that article a while back, but it also sounded like that was more like what the Sox were looking for, versus offered.

Likely …. I tnink the deal would be close if that were the offer.

Why do I feel like Mayo will come here and become Josh Fields 2.0?

Because they haven't developed a premium star hitter in a very long time

Eh, TA sort of broke that streak, albeit short lived.

was looking at his hitting stats, he was unbelievably lucky for 2 of the 3 years, there's a great video that breaks it down
