Do people think NFL players don’t do the same thing? Different sport obviously, but baseball is an everyday grind. Day in and day out. Players getting treatment for the rigours of the sport shouldn’t be looked down upon as pampering. With that said, and we obviously don’t know what was really going on behind the scenes, healthy players taking ‘spa days’ during the season would certainly be a bad look for a 100+ loss team. We don’t actually know what was going on though. Either way, Pedro sucks and should be gone. This is true no matter what the phrase “spa day” actually means. I think a masseuse is involved at some point.

Doesn't compute, because as SSHM has outlined, the Sox basically only won when TA was throwing pasta parties.

Tony
The issue isn’t with “spa days” for players. You’re making incredible amount of investments into assets (well at least some MLB teams are) and you need to take care and maintain those assets so they perform at the highest level. The issue is players taking “advantage” of those spa days. We have enough data to tell us Eloy, Moncada, and Robert to a degree seem unwilling to take the field unless they are at 100%, which isn’t very likely come July, August. And with the inmates seeming running the asylum on 35th and Shields, it’s going to lead to a lot of missed games from players and a bad environment. There is also enough evidence from former players over the last 2-3 seasons that the clubhouse hasn’t been all that interested in winning. Burger said it after his first game with the Marlins. Pedro isn’t the guy, and this roster ain’t it either. As always, nothing changes until it changes at the top. 3 1

Except Robert was going out there for weeks when he could barely swing the bat one-handed in late 2022... How much of it was being overprotective or too cautious with players (including the whole go at 75-85% of all out under TLR)...how much was it the actual characters and work ethics of those players? How much was it lack of motivation to play for anything for almost six full months...and nobody to really push them that entire time from a leadership/professionalism standpoint? So you have a problem with players taking a few games off, but not Benetti missing 1/4 of the season? this was a joke

Dick Allen
I took spa day to mean players taking liberties with not being 100% and asking for time off. It was not until about 10 years ago when players of any sport complained they played too much. Really weird with the advancement of nutrition and training. Flipside of this is you have guys doing things that bodies were just not designed to do. White Sox and Herm, who at this point I'm convinced traversed the astral planes to keep people healthy, kept Sale mostly healthy by not maxing him out. Then he has his best season ever in 2017 after the Red Sox crank his fastball and slider up another mile per hour on average, and increase the slider usage. He was still good in 2018 but that's when injuries began popping up and it's been downhill since. Another example is Adam Engel. Dude is built, but is glass. baseball_gal_aly
I'm kinda expecting a Moncada for Salvy Perez deal.

Why would KC benefit from an almost $30 million one year deal with Moncada? Perez has more value from a PR and marketing standpoint not even playing....just sitting in the dugout in a KC uniform as a player-manager.
