kramer99
Do you think with Ozzie coming over here, being how much the players supposedly loved him in Florida , would have an effect on bringing some of the Marlin free agents over here??? And what about former teamates that played with him or players that loved him when they played against him??? Will the sox have a Guillen factor like the cubs have a Baker factor on players and FA's???

BurlyMan56
I'm not sure if he's a free agent but I would love to have Pavano on this team. He has nasty stuff.
SoxFan1
If he could help lure Pavano and Castillo then hell yeah!
SuperSteve
I'm not sure if he's a free agent but I would love to have Pavano on this team. He has nasty stuff. 99% sure he is a FA, and 100% sure I'd love him on this team.

Luis Castillo thinks highly of Ozzie, however I think he'll end up in Yankee pinstripes. One thing is for sure, Ozzie wants to win. He only said it about 40 times at the press conference. The chances of us signing Castillo got a little bit higher, than again we didn't even really have a shot of signing Castillo in the first place. One thing is for sure, Ozzie wants to win. Than again I might just be used to hearing too much of Jerry Manuel. Don't get me wrong, I love Ozzie's passion for the game. I think he will do well here. Gene Honda Civic
Pavano is a free agent. I bet he ends up with Boston. I doubt Ozzie would have any effect on pitching free agents. However, I'm sure it has some effect on a guy like Castillo, who i'd love to see here, who's stlye lends itself to that which Ozzie should bring to this team. sox4lifeinPA
do you think Fartolo will think twice about signing with us??
forkit
The one effect this may have on Bart is that Ozzie may be viewed by him positively [or negatively] and then if his agent doesn't find better offers, he can always use the "I was waiting to see who they hired" excuse... We'll see. Forkit!
kramer99
after i made the thread i heard in Mac, Jurko, and Harry...that ozzie and Sidney Ponson are really good friends (i have no idea how but apparently they are) and they even asked Ozzie about it but all he said was that he didnt know. thats what heard today on MJ&H...i was also curious to know if u guys thought him being here would bring Robin Ventura back as a bench player (leftyback, defensive replacment at 3b and 1b) if he cant find a full time job elsewhere? I got a feeling he will be brought back and the Sox will market it kind of like Pippen rejoining the Bulls. I hope to have him back...he'd be a very effective role player. greg775
Hate to be a cynic but with most big leaguers nowadays it will be about the best offer, not playing with ol Ozzie. Maybe Ozz can talk Reinsdork into spending some cash.

YASNY
That's interesting. I flew the idea of Venture coming back past my father today. I think he'd be a good fit with the club and he is a fan favorite.
Capn12
What position would we put Ventura at? I love ole Robin, but we don't really have room for him at this point.
YASNY
What position would we put Ventura at? I love ole Robni, but we don't really have room for him at this point. He can play first, third and DH in a backup role. He'd also give us a LH alternative at each position. Say if we were facing a tough righty, He could give Crede a break. Similar to the Daubach role last year, but with 3rd base thrown into the mix.
Capn12
As long as we got a "Deep Hometown Discount" then yeah, I wouldnt mind having Robins bat on the bench.
YASNY
I don't think Robin would command very much in the current free agent market.
DBAHO
I don't think Robin would command very much in the current free agent market. Sounds like a good quality character pickup to me . I'm sure he'd luv to go once more for da Sox ala Pippen.
Capn12
And he wouldnt do anything but help in Credes fielding ability. Robin was as smooth as they come in the field in the 90's for the Sox.
