SuperSteve
...FA pitchers... Bere and Wohlers signed minor league deals with the Indians today. The guys I like are Brian Anderson, Miguel Batista, Sidney Ponson, Jeff D'Amico, and Ruben Quevedo. One guy I would LOVE to take a chance on is Jose Jiminez. He used to be a closer, and if he came cheap, it would be great to have in a middle reliever role and see if he can regain where he used to be. He also is able to start. DBAHO
Brian Anderson Wilson Alvarez Rick Helling (I don't mind, but Ozzie could want him from Florida) Cory Lidle Sidney Ponson I also think Chad Fox could be wearing a White Sox uniform as well. SuperSteve
This isn't a whole list. I would love Fox here, I can't believe I forgot about him. Timlin too. Lidle would be nice cheap.
BurlyMan56
Wilson for long-relief/spot starting Anderson/Batista/Astacio-5th spot Colon/Millwood/Ponson
mac9001
I think John Thomson would make a pretty good 4th-5th starter. If KW can land Sidney Ponson and one of Thomson, Alvarez, or D'Amico i be very happy.
Gene Honda Civic
Alvarez is the interesting name on that list. I think he could be a GREAT addition to the team. I don't know what he'd cost, but Sterling Hitchcock was lights out down the stretch for St Louis. Of course I understand our recent history with guys who were lights out for the cards in the second half. (Rick White)
whitesoxfan99
I'd like to see Batista and Ponson personally, and they probably could be had for the about the same amount as it would have taken to get Ponson. I would feel pretty good going into next year with a rotation of Buerhle, Ponson, Loaiza, Batista, and Garland.
DBAHO
How bout Rick White. I think he could really put up some good numbers here.

I think you made a typo though and meant to say that Batista and Ponson would probably cost as much as Colon(instead of Ponson). I think a rotation of Buehrle, Ponson, Loaiza, Batista, and Garland would be better then the 2003 starting staff.
Chisoxfn
For our Ace' Type Pitcher: Andy Pettite/Sidney Ponson For a 5th Andy Ashby Alvarez, Wilson Anderson, Brian Astacio, Pedro Batista, Miguel D'Amico, Jeff Helling, Rick Hentgen, Pat Jimenez, Jose *Keisler, Randy Lidle, Cory Reynolds, Shane
bulokis
Brian Anderson will look good in our uniform. He pitches great and hopefully with our offense he can get more wins.
kramer99
i thought steve sparks was a free agent too....sign him to be like a sean lowe type pitcher( can spot start, middle relief, long relief, close) If hes cheap, he might be worth a shot as a change of pace in the bullpen and he aint that bad, he usually pitched pretty good against the sox if i could remember correctly...what do u think??? DBAHO
Any1 like Pat Hengten? He went 6-3 with a 3.10 ERA after the All Star Break and the O's declined their $4 million option on him. But the Rangers, Blue Jays, Phillies and Tigers r expected to go afta him.

Wong & Owens
Alvarez, Wilson--We have enough 4th-5th starters already Anderson, Brian--Another lefty starter? Nah. Appier, Kevin--Washed up, arm held together with duct tape Ashby, Andy--See Appier, Kevin Astacio, Pedro--Hmmm, injury-prone, but intruiging *Bacsik, Mike--Who? Batista, Miguel--I like him Bere, Jason--No. Burba, Dave--Nuh-uh. Burkett, John--Absolutely not. Colon, Bartolo--He'd be good, oh wait, never mind D'Amico, Jeff--He's good for 6 starts a season before getting hurt. No thanks. Erickson, Scott--There's no need for this Estes, Shawn--HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! Helling, Rick--Career ERA of almost 5.00. No need for an innings-eater Hentgen, Pat--Pitched well last season. I take him for a year or two. Hermanson, Dustin--Even the Cardinals didn't want him. Hitchcock, Sterling--He just sucks. *Keisler, Randy--Did you make this one up? Lidle, Cory--He's the white James Baldwin--Only good for 1/2 a season. Lima, Jose--It's never a good time for Lima time Maddux, Greg--At his age, he might get pulverized in the AL Millwood, Kevin--Sure, go sign him up Moehler, Brian--A Tigers cast-off? No. Nelson, Jeff--This is good, but doesn't he want ridiculous $$? Oliver, Darren--Waste of time and money Person, Robert--Coming off injuries--risky. Ponson, Sidney--I hope he's not a one-year wonder after getting a fat contract *Quevedo, Ruben--Makes Colon look anorexic. No. Reed, Rick--He's done Reynolds, Shane--Also done. Ritchie, Todd--............. Rogers, Kenny--Another 4th-5th guy Rusch, Glendon--Never seems to put it together Stephenson, Garrett --Ugh Suppan, Jeff--O-ver-RA-ted Thomson, John--The ex-Georgetown coach? No. Tollberg, Brian--No. Tomko, Brett --No. Valdes, Ismael--I'd take him, can we get him some Stan's Rodeo Cream for his blisters? Van Poppel, Todd--Blecchhh.
