Bob Sacamano
Minor league deal. Gotta think he’s a favorite for a pen spot. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2024/01/white-sox-sign-joe-barlow-to-minor-league-deal.html

tray
Makes sense in every way. My hope is that Getz gets passed his proclivity for Royals though.
MiddleCoastBias
Read that as Scott Barlow and laughed at yet another Royal. Realized my mistake and that it was Joe Barlow, retracted my laugh, then saw he *also* pitched for the Royals, repeat. I have nothing else to contribute.
TheFutureIsNear
What a gift it is to be left handed as a pitcher…Tim Hill gets a major league deal and Breslow (who was closing games fairly recently) has to settle for a minor league deal. 1

This is Joe Barlow, a right-hander. Not lefty thrower Craig Breslow. And Scott Barlow also doesn’t throw left-handed. Edit: nvm I get what you’re saying now. I was confused at first ha. It sure seems we are stocking a team for a beer league doesnt it? My cousin once played 2nd base for a championship Mickey Mantle league back in late 80's. Getzie are u listening? What drives me nuts is that they should have been stocking the beer league team the last 2 seasons. They had no depth and imagined they were competing, they needed these guys more then!

hi8is
Every dude we sign this off-season my response is the same: “who?” Shows what I know. 2 1

I wonder if each of these guys are saying "Finally the situation I've been looking for. My career is saved!" Or "I'm fucked, the only team that I can play for is the White Sox. I'm going to go teach PE and coach a high school team." 4
wegner
Where are they finding all these guys? I don't remember the Sox ever signing this quantity of players in an offseason.

Someone earlier said they lost most of the Charlotte pitching staff to minor league free agency so they really needed to fill the roster.

Getz was definitely prepared to hit the ground running. We will see what happens when the ground hits back on his "junkyard" collection.
Quin
Victor Reyes was an infinitely more exciting depth signing than the MiLB guys we've signed this year and a good chunk of the MLB guys signed. And he wasn't that exciting.

And he wasn't that exciting. They did an excellent job of stubbornly refusing to promote him regardless of the mess/es in the Sox outfield last year...and his Charlotte numbers. A lot like the year Alcides Escobar threw a fit because they wouldn't bring him up to the big league club well after his glory days in KC. It's the agent's job to find their players places to play. Getz has to open his email and every small time agent is making offers.
