southsider2k5
Nothing in that article wasnt already know by Hawk fans, but Its nice to read that people finally get it, on a national note. I give Wirtz alot a credit though, its pretty tough to turn the NUMBER 1 sport in this town, (yes it was in the 60's and 70's) and make basically non exsisitant. Nice Work :fyou $Bill. :fyou Hopefully as this goes through the National media, at least Wirtz's kids will take notice that they don't do the same stupid things when they take over. Are you kidding me? Bill Wirtz will ALWAYS run the team as long as someone with the same last name is behind the helm. Dont expect another Wirtz to step in, and start shelling out the $$$. Aint going to happen. Wirtz will have control of that team in his grave. I was more referring to the ban on TV locally being the biggest stupid mistake. Also maybe some front office stability. I think the NHL has proven you don't necesarily have to spend to have decent success, (Such as Ottawa, Tampa, and Vancouver) but you do have to have good people in key positions. DBAHO
I think they should offa the GM job to Marshall Johnston if he wants it, he built the Senators into a winner, othawise give it to Lombardi.

There is a long standing rumor that a handshake agreement exsists between the Wirtz kids and some network to get the Hawks back on the air after the old man kicks the bucket. YASNY
Ya that whould be nice, but isnt It sad that, that is what we have to hope for. For are Owner to DIE, so we can watch a s***ty team on TV. DBAHO
Hawks fans have been waiting for $Bill to die for years. Hopefully this can be done soon, I mean an original six team with the 24th highest payroll in the league. It just ain't right.

Actually what ive heard is that Wirtz's kids are as bad as he is. I was talking to a friend of the family who had dinner with Wirtz and his son for some business reason, and he was telling me that the son he had dinner with was pretty much the same evil cold hearted businessman his father is. On a brighter note, I have a friend in college who when he goes home he occasionally eggs $ Bill's house. I told him he was my hero.
SAVVY18
They announced the following today: The Blackhawks announced today that Dale Tallon will assume the club's Assistant General Manager position, taking over for Nick Beverley. Director of Player Evaluation Marshall Johnston and Director of Amateur Scouting Bill Lesuk have also been relieved of their duties. Here is the link: CBH.com Looks like the good old boy network is in full swing. How long before Lombardi is named GM to complete it?
