When the yard was demolished, no one bothered to hook up sewer or water pipes or run electricity to the property, or even build streets or sidewalks to the lot. Located 30 feet below Roosevelt Road, the property is practically inaccessible from three sides—and, if anyone wanted to build on it, they’d first have to invest significantly in preliminary infrastructure as well as clean up all the garbage and chemicals in the soil. This is partially why Rezko failed to do anything with the land—besides having to deal instead with his money laundering and fraud convictions, of course." https://www.chicagomag.com/city-life/august-2013/rezkos-lot/ Congrats, you have once again proven what everyone else already knew. 1

"Giordano's Field." "Malnati's Stadium." "Buona Ballpark." "Portillo's Park." I mean those places probably don't have the money to shell out for naming rights but at least it would iconic to the city (even if they are all chains and the best ones are the mom-n-pop shops that only the locals know). When it comes down to it, they're probably going with the highest bidder, regardless of local ties or not. Ultimately it's a business decision. Nardiwashere
I wonder if McDonalds or Walgreens are so big and ubiquitous, its not worth it to purchase the naming rights to a stadium. My favorite was the period of time when the park was named US Cellular but you couldn't get US Cellular in Illinois because it like left the market or something.

The nationwide brands will always be able to beat it. If we give the naming rights to Nationwide, will they end that wretched jingle?? caulfield12
https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/39364835/legislators-ensure-potential-kansas-city-stadium-funding-vote Ironic that former Royals' 2B and All-Star Frank White had his veto overrode as Jackson County Exec. Looks like the potential costs are ranging from $2 billion to $6.4 billion.

What if they built it closer to the southern end of he property? It's not like it's an up-close-and-personal view of the skyline, but it's something. View from just north of 15th and Clark per Google Maps (LINK)
Dick Allen
obviously it's something to discuss, but when you think about it, this whole thing is laughable. The state will significantly help build a new park, while they have another a short distance away in perfectly fine condition? Or Jerry Reinsdolrf is going to spend a billion or two of his own money building the park? C'mon. man.

I don't care if he's old, he likes this stuff, and real estate is much more his passion, honestly maybe even more than union busting. I don't expect him to get the 1989 deal out of this, but I don't think he will be Jerry Jones paying cash for an opulent stadium either. It will be somewhere in the middle.

It certainly hasn't with the team.

While it's all exciting to talk about and the stadium wold be a great place to watch games, my bet it's all a negotiating ploy to get a better deal for when the lease is up in 5 years for the current ballpark.
