Okay, here's a waiver claim I could get behind.

No wonder you love Getz’s offseason.  You apparently love crappy overpaid players.  Straw has had an OPS under .600 in both of the last two seasons.  3 more years and $19.25 million for trash.  Yikes.

24: $4.5M, 25: $6M, 26: $7M, 27: $8M club option ($1.75M buyout), 28: $8.5M club option ($500,000 buyout)

At least let him clear waivers first.

Opt-out decisions are due now for Shaw, Leone, Chavez, Keller, Moustakas, and Pillar.

Pillar and Mous are making the team. Keller, Leone, and Chavez I would guess stick around. Shaw too, although he really should be launched from a catapult into Bubbly Creek.

Pedro can't make decisions and/or can't choose which bad options to keep around.

These guys are all on the train competing and bunting, and all that good stuff. Playing for their careers. You have so many great players, it's hard to make a decision.

Why would an already offensively challenged team ever want Straw?

I quickly looked at his stats, and he appeared to be a better fielder than Pillar, and a natural CF. However, his platoon stats are neutral, perhaps even slightly reverse, and I didn't really look at his contract status. I rescind my support.

This is pretty standard, no?

No. They usually have a 3pm game on Monday and a 2pm game on Tuesday.

I doubt they leave Sunday night. Probably intrasquad/organization games the last couple days, as Fathom mentioned.

It's possible not a single one of the fourteen players listed below could even be the last man on a competitive White Sox team. That said, it makes no sense the next two years to go with retirees they are likely to roster over the younger players which may possibly be worth something in a couple of years.

FanGraph 2024 Depth Chart Projections

OPS Player fWAR (Projected Games Played)

  1. .720 Gavin Sheets 0.1 (53 Games)
  2. .698 Oscar Colas 0.0 (10 Games)
  3. .691 Kevin Pillar 0.2 (44 Games)
  4. .676 Lenyn Sosa 0.3 (36 Games)
  5. .671 Dominic Fletcher 0.4 (97 Games)

That's a lot of zeroes in front of the decimal point

When you have this much talent, you're going to have to say goodbye to several great players.
