Squirmin' for Yermin
On 2/24/2024 at 12:39 PM, South Side Hit Men said: I can see no threads for even real games as there were past year due to apathy and disgust. Speaking of apathy and disgust, the Sox are 72 games better with Sheets out of the lineup than in it, despite the fact other RF candidates have also been been flawed (Eaton, Lamb, Vaughn, Colas, etc.). Between 2021-2023, Sox are net -72 (Sheets’ TWTW score) worse when Gavin Sheets plays (127-172 -45) vs. when he doesn’t play (109-82 27). This isn’t merely a coincidence, or a product of his usage (best relievers plus Billy Hamilton used to protect leads late). His poor fielding and hitting area net drag on team performance. He should be stashed in Charlotte or DFA’d, or given away for even the flimsiest of returns. Sheets has no value on a MLB team. Wow.. How is this even possible.

Autumn Dreamin
Baseball America speculates on the Sox Spring Breakout prospect lineup: Jacob Burke, CF Colson Montgomery, SS Bryan Ramos, 3B Wilfred Veras, DH Terrell Tatum, LF Tim Elko, 1B George Wolkow, RF Edgar Quero, C Javier Mogollon, 2B Noah Schultz, LHP Nick Nastrini, RHP Jake Eder, LHP Jordan Leasure, RHP Quote Analysis: The middle of the White Sox’s potential lineup is packed with power. Colson Montgomery is one of the best prospects in the game and can lose a ball from the left side with ease. He’s complemented by fellow mashers Bryan Ramos, Wilfred Veras and Tim Elko. Terrell Tatum offers speed and power, too, and new catching prospect Edgar Quero has high upside. Chicago’s staff features two dynamic southpaws in Noah Schultz and Jake Eder, and Jordan Leasure can use fire to fight fire at the end of a game. https://www.baseballamerica.com/stories/spring-training-prospect-series-dream-teams-for-all-30-mlb-organizations/ I imagine this is pretty close to what we'll see, with maybe some wiggle room at 2B/LF and another arm or two if it's supposed to be a full 9 innings. Should be fun.

Lip Man 1
Two more Sox pitchers hurt, that makes a half dozen by my count: Feb. 29: RHPs Jimmy Lambert and Joe Barlow dealing with shoulder soreness Both pitchers are candidates for the White Sox bullpen. Lambert is expected to be out for 10-14 days, while Barlow could be sidelined for an even longer period of time. Lambert is another guy who just can't stay healthy.
South Side Hit Men
A few selections from Sox Machine. Jim Margalus on Crochet’s outing: https://soxmachine.com/2024/02/garrett-crochet-white-sox-spring-debut/ James Fegan on Chris Flexen https://soxmachine.com/2024/02/white-sox-chris-flexen-spring-training/
chitownsportsfan
Quote Garrett Crochet’s last name always looks a little lopsided on his jersey because the closed “4” the White Sox use for their numbering leaves a whole lot of blank space underneath the first two letters of “Crochet,” while the full-width “5” escorts the second half of his name across the finish line. Still, the new spring training template does him no favors. I just can't with him man. It's like reading a more polished, just (slightly) more organized Caulfield. Like what sort of brain uses that as the lede? One that thinks differently than I do, that's for sure. How does a letter "escort" anything? Thumbs up to Fegan tho, glad he landed somewhere that will at least provide him a steady check this season. Timmy U
Gonzalez’s swing looks totally different. The bat looks much quicker out of this set up. I hope it works for him.
