WestEddy
Red Sox guy answering a question about White Sox developing pitchers: They overhauled the player development department this offseason, especially on the pitching side. Things are a lot different and more individualized and its working. — Chris Clegg (@RotoClegg) June 5, 2024

southsider2k5
Yeah it is pretty obvious they want that older top prospect group to win something in Birmingham before they move them up.
caulfield12
Jacob Gonzalez playing shortstop and second base in Double-A (mlb.com) Love how Gonzalez has gone from this past offseason to a "slugging" hitting prospect, lol...it's going to take more than a couple of weeks of hot hitting at BIRM to actually earn that moniker. It’s also easy to go from Winston to Charlotte

DirtySox
Quero #1 on the hot sheet. Let's go. Quote 1. Edgar Quero, C, White Sox Team: Double-A Birmingham (Southern) Age: 20 Why He’s Here: .619/.704/1.143 (13-for-21), 7 R, 2 2B, 0 3B, 3 HR, 5 RBIs, 5 BB, 3 SO The Scoop: What a difference a month makes. In May, Quero—one of the prizes the White Sox netted from the Angels in last summer’s Lucas Giolito trade—had just 15 hits. With just 10 days gone in June, he already has 17 hits. Three of hits this past week were home runs, which put him in select company. He is one of just four catchers in the minor leagues who are 21 years old or younger and have 10 or more home runs. The total also pushes him farther past his total from 2023, when he hit six homers in 101 games at Double-A. WestEddy
Jim Margalus has a nice, deep write-up of how the Sox' top prospects have been doing over the last fortnight. https://soxmachine.com/2024/06/white-sox-pitching-depth-drew-thorpe/

baseball_gal_aly
So now that Thorpe and Cannon are with the Sox, there are going to be some pitching promotions, right? Eder is 25 I'd like to see him in Charlotte and Taylor should go up to W/S at least IMO.
TaylorStSox
I'd prefer all of our pitching prospects skip AAA. There's more talent in AA and pitching in Charlotte isn't productive.

UNlike the churn you are seeing at the major league level, I am all for giving guys some predictability and stability as the work through the minors. Give them clear and concise timelines and goals so that they will be on the same page. 1st half/2nd half is always solid timing for these kinds of changes as well.

If they move Taylor up to A+ after the draft, I wouldn't be shocked if he got his feet wet in AA by the end of the season.
