Move White Sox to Oakbrook Terrace IL

Recommended Posts

There is a large piece of land in Oakbrook Terrace IL that has been an eyesore for 50+ years. It is located at the northwest corner of Rt. 83 and Roosevelt Rd in Oakbrook Terrace IL.  There is a large dirt hill there that was built by the current owner, Robinette Demolition. It is an eyesore in DuPage County. Removal of this and the business that occupies that land would be a huge plus to that area which incidentally is adjacent to the Oak Brook Shopping Center and the Drury Land Theater.

Removal of that eyesore hill and the Robinette Demolition business would revitalize that area of real estate. The land used to be a beautiful nature area when I was a kid complete with natural fishing ponds and large prairie filled with nature. It was all destroyed by the Robinette empire. They turned it into a dump over the course of many years, once turning homes in the area black overnight when a could of something toxic filled our neighborhood back in the early 60's. They subsequently buried their sins with an enormous dirt hill that has been sitting there as a monument to greed and destruction of a once beautiful natural setting. Then they built a water slide on it which they operated for a few years... and now it sits as a monument to poor planning and taking of a once beautiful area and destroying it for profit in a most unsightly way.

But a new stadium, while still for profit of course, with some land set aside to the north for nature would be a welcome addition to this area, complete perhaps  with a luxury hotel, eateries and shuttles to and from Oak Brook shopping Center.  Restoration of some natural ponds and prairie grass to surround the stadium development could be beautiful compared to the eyesore that is there now.

Abandon this idea of the 78 in Chicago Mr Reinsdorf. Move the White Sox to the suburbs... and in the process improve your legacy, give a little back to nature and the people that live in that area... and perhaps save the state a lot of money in the process.
