winninguglyin83
The three things I learned from reading the four local papers this morning: *Daily Southtown reported the Sox are going to make a big pitch for Sidney Ponson to fill Bartolo's spot. *Daily Southtown also reported that when word of Ozzie's opening volley got back to Frank that Frank was irate. I'm starting to believe that management might be invoking that strategy to drive Frank out. He accepted the $6 million contract option. KW and JR don't have to say a word. Ozzie takes the heat. Frank gets so perturbed that he calls Arn Tellem and says GET ME OUTTA THERE, I don't care what it takes. Just a thought. *Ozzie likes Willie Harris. Sez he's going to use spring training to teach him how to improve his bunting. Hmmmm. Get one of the fastest left-handed hitters in the league to become a top bunter. Wonder if the former manager ever considered that? Doubtful. That would have made it more difficult to have the guys behind him roll into all those double plays. Iguana
i am starting to get sick of Franks b****ing. just play the freaking game!!! he has been my favorite player ever since i became a sox fan but this is pathetic.
FlaSoxxJim
*Daily Southtown reported the Sox are going to make a big pitch for Sidney Ponson to fill Bartolo's spot. A quick glance at career stats should suggest Ponson is not exactly a replacement for Colon, is he?? He's really only had one very good season, and just seems like a very expensive number three starter. It may be the best of several bad options though, I guess. Also, FSJ, 2002 was Colons ONLY 20 win season. 13 million a year for a guy that has had 1 20 win season is ALOT. I know, he puts the innings in that an ace needs to, and he gets the CGs, but way too inconsistent to make that much four our team.

On the Thomas situation, he is the greatest hitter in Sox history but I real feel he is the cancer on this team. It's time for him to move on. Capn12
Agreed mooch. He is the reason I got serious about following the Sox. But as of now, I am REALLY growing tired of his shenanigans. Plus, I get credit for using the word shenanigans in a sentence
beebeerichards
On the Thomas situation, he is the greatest hitter in Sox history but I real feel he is the cancer on this team. It's time for him to move on. Bingo!! I think the same thing. After Frank's announcement last year he was swinging for the fences, the whole team did. It seems like he is only playing for his "hall of fame" stats now. Frank was and still is an awesome hitter, but I don't think he has figured out his legacy will be much greater if he contributes to a championship team rather than just rolling up big numbers for mediocre ballclubs. I too think it's time for Frank to move on. This also would free up some salary to fill some holes.

Queen Prawn
You know, this is why I love this site. You can say 'it's time for Thomas to move on' and not get called an idiot or a baseball moron. In any sense, if Thomas can't see past himself and his issues with Ozzie to see the prize, it is time for him to move on. More now than ever we need this team to work as a team and not a group of individuals.

DonkeyKongerko
Can Thomas ever have a GOOD OFFSEASON?? I really think Ozzie handed Frank the ball saying he really can take over as clubhouse leader and earn some respect. This is just typical Frank Thomas whine and cheese, I don't why I expected less. Steff
Oh good grief.. Frank hasn't even made a statement yet. Media spin.. gotta love it.

I really think Ozzie handed Frank the ball saying he really can take over as clubhouse leader and earn some respect. This is just typical Frank Thomas whine and cheese, I don't why I expected less. Usually I don't much back up Frank, but he hasn't said a word yet. So far just Ozzie has gone out and looked for trouble. As of yet, Frank hasn't said a thing. And if someone overheard him saying something, then he is doing the right thing and keeping it behind closed doors instead of airing his laundry for the media as usual, and some asshole is printing his "private" thoughts. Until Frank actually adresses the media, I don't give a s*** what the rumors of what he said were, he is handling himself more maturely than our manager is. That scares me. We got to see why Ozzie will be supplying lots of fodder for the baseball media> Frank has not said a thing publicly yet and I hope he just vents his "anger and tantrums" on the baseball> How can anyone doubt Big Hurts desire to win? I love what Frank has done for the Sox and want him to stay here and be the superstar leader>

ChiSox_Sonix
Oh good grief.. Frank hasn't even made a statement yet. Media spin.. gotta love it. yeah, before we jump all over him at least wait till Thomas himslef says something and the media just doesnt report something that a friend of a friend of Thomas' MAY have heard him say or not say and they think they are sure but you get the point. The media is quick to jump in to bed with these types of stories. Lets at least wait until Thomas says something himself before jumping all over him
Al Lopez Ghost (old)
How can anyone doubt Big Hurts desire to win? It's pretty easy, actually. He actually pissed off Gandhi. Do you know how hard that is to do? The annual spring training addresses to the press about his contract being unfair, including a walkout...the shuttle run incident...showing up late for stretching when he was taken out of the lineup...don't send the runner when I'm hitting, it's distracting...the times he refused to slide at home on close plays, only to be tagged out...his decision to be a home run hitter last year when his manager said Frank is more valuable when he makes contact, drives the ball and drives in runs.... You can support Frank all you want, and maybe Ozzie was wrong here, but it can't be that the world is wrong and Frank is right all the time. Rowand44
If you compare their seasons this year, it would be hard to tell a difference in all honesty. BINGO guys I know Colon is obviously going to eat up more innings, but for those people who keep saying don't look at Ponson cause he just had his career year, he's going to be 27 at the beginning of next season he's still a very young pitcher, and look at his numbers they keep getting better and better each year, maybe he's learned how to pitch a little bit, cause he's always had the stuff. Listen guys.. I am totally biased because I've know Sidney for a long time. But one thing is that this is the first year that that moron Scott Erickson hasn't been up his ass to go party every night, and Sidney really got into a work out regime and started eating way better. He dropped close to 20 pounds and he's a rock. He's getting mentally into the game more - he's only 27 - and he's maturing. Obviously you all know my opinion. I would love for him to play here, but aside from that I think it's a good fit for the Sox. What the hell.. it's not like things can get any worse..
