Guest JimH
My Lord.. we have yet to SEE Frank make any comments on Ozzie and we're calling the media's spin gospel... Yeah, see the other thread ... You said Sox management is putting it out to the media that Gaston is now only worthy of being a bench coach, and you believed that media report, I'm baffled why this one is not believable. I'd take EVERY media report with a grain of salt ... including Dave Wills.
SuperSteve
About Ponson, didn't alot of his wins come against teams 3's and 4's. I thought that was a crack about him at the AS break. I personally am all for him, but we have to remember that he will not be an ace, he will be solid, but not an ace.

WHarris1
*Ozzie likes Willie Harris. Sez he's going to use spring training to teach him how to improve his bunting. Hmmmm. Get one of the fastest left-handed hitters in the league to become a top bunter. Wonder if the former manager ever considered that? Doubtful. That would have made it more difficult to have the guys behind him roll into all those double plays. Thats what I'm talking about!

You basically said one media report was bulls***, but you went off on KW in the Sox Shopping For Bargains thread about the media saying KW wanted Cito to be a bench coach. Unless I'm reading it wrong, and forgive me if I am, you're choosing to believe one media report (about KW wanting Cito to be bench coach) and saying the other is BS (Frank/Ozzie tiff). My point is, why is one media report believeable and the other isn't? If it's only because one media report validates your opinion and another doesn't, well, that doesn't seem quite right to me. I just want to understand where you're coming from is all. I see lots of statements around here, some dismissing media reports based on personal opinions, and then being very definitive with statements, based on media reports. For my part, I'll take every media report with a grain of salt. The one guy who has been the most accurate and upstanding, in my opinion, is Bruce Levine. And even Bruce admits he's not aware of all the intracacies of what goes on.

Al Lopez Ghost (old)
If you compare their seasons this year, it would be hard to tell a difference in all honesty. Colon still throws a few more innings, but Ponson had 216 himself and had an ERA in the 3's. For 5-6 mill less, I think its a wise move. BINGO guys I know Colon is obviously going to eat up more innings, but for those people who keep saying don't look at Ponson cause he just had his career year, he's going to be 27 at the beginning of next season he's still a very young pitcher, and look at his numbers they keep getting better and better each year, maybe he's learned how to pitch a little bit, cause he's always had the stuff. Listen guys.. I am totally biased because I've know Sidney for a long time. But one thing is that this is the first year that that moron Scott Erickson hasn't been up his ass to go party every night, and Sidney really got into a work out regime and started eating way better. He dropped close to 20 pounds and he's a rock. He's getting mentally into the game more - he's only 27 - and he's maturing. Obviously you all know my opinion. I would love for him to play here, but aside from that I think it's a good fit for the Sox. What the hell.. it's not like things can get any worse.. As long as he doesn't start hanging with Frank in the strip clubs. Frank doesn't do that anymore... But does he do it any less?
CWSOX45
The three things I learned from reading the four local papers this morning: *Daily Southtown reported the Sox are going to make a big pitch for Sidney Ponson to fill Bartolo's spot. *Daily Southtown also reported that when word of Ozzie's opening volley got back to Frank that Frank was irate. I'm starting to believe that management might be invoking that strategy to drive Frank out. He accepted the $6 million contract option. KW and JR don't have to say a word. Ozzie takes the heat. Frank gets so perturbed that he calls Arn Tellem and says GET ME OUTTA THERE, I don't care what it takes. Just a thought. I knew it. Dick Allen
Ozzie is going to teach Willie how to bunt so we can get that speed on base and wreak havoc. He's also going to teach how to get on base by the base on balls,oh just scratch that last thought

I whould love for Willie to come out guns out, and just light it up this season, but I think Ozzie is going to find out that Willie isnt cut out to be a big leauge hitter. I really, really hope im wrong, cause I think if Willie breakes out this season, he could be a favorite. I just realized, that if Willie learned to play the game right, he could be our mix of Pierre (Offense) and Castillo (Defense)! WOW!

Steff
OK, I understand a little better now ... so why would you be pissed off at KW and want to ring (or wring ) his doorbell, given the media report is BS? Because I think the idea came from somewhere.. it had to be planted in some way to get reported. Jim.. I don't believe anything unless it has a name attached to it. You just can't. Kenny's name was attached to that rumor. Just like a lot of the other BS. He says things and is never held accountable. I can not tell you how many times I have been in his presence asking bs "fan" questions all the while wanting to say... "why are you such a dips***".. I wish I had a big enough pair
Guest JimH
How do you think this new asst. GM fits into the picture? Does he take over someone's duties, i.e. is Roland Hemond backing off/away from the day to day?

YASNY
I'd love to see us pick up Ponson. He'd be a very solid #3 behind Buehrle and Loaiza, scooting Garland back to number 4.
Capn12
And, IMO, Garland at the #4 can be as good as alot of the other guys in the AL. That leaves the lottery pick for who get to be the #5.
