CSF
Do you guys think Rauch will step up and finally live up to the hype and grab the spot. Or maybe Schoenweis, since he was promised a shot at it during spring training. Or maybe even Josh Stewart, if that blood clot has cleared up. I know the Sox aren't gonna go the free agency route for it, so who has the best shot?
SuperSteve
My pick, sign Brian Anderson.
CSF
I forgot to add Neal Cotts to that list.

SuperSteve
So we have a Chisoxfn and a ChiSoxFan?? Can we get anymore confusing?? Oh s***, I thought Jas just changed his ava and sig. Wow. That is way too confusing.
Soxfest
Whoever is the cheapest option will be the 5th starter.
SuperSteve
Whoever is the cheapest option will be the 5th starter. Nope, even that guy will be too expensive now.
CSF
So we have a Chisoxfn and a ChiSoxFan?? Can we get anymore confusing?? I actually signed up for this board on New Years Eve last year, but I haven't posted here in awhile.
kramer99
Rauch will get the job...after AAA ball last year and the fact he is so cheap, and i think he has good stuff and can also pitch very well.
aboz56
My pick is Neal Cotts.

CubKilla
Rauch or Cotts will get the nod, IMHO, if JR doesn't sign two pitchers

Capn12
I still think it will be given to, GASP, Scott Schoeneweis. They are keeping him around for that reason, and maybe Coop can get him in a good enough position to be at the very least, average in that #5 slot. YASNY
I don't think they'll "give" the position to Shoney, or anyone else. The position will be earned, hopefully. Depending on the plans for Danny Wright, it will probably be between Shoney and Rauch, or Stewart if healthy. Cotts needs some time in AAA, I believe. It wouldn't shock me to see Jon Rauch win that slot.
Al Lopez Ghost (old)
Jon Rauch or Jose Valentin. BTW, who's our fourth starter?
Capn12
I didn't mean to make it sound like it was gonna be "given" to Schoen, but that he is the hands on favorite to get the job, because he came in and did a job he didn't want to do. I think KW asked him to be bullpen help in 2003, on the condition that he would get a legitimate shot at the Starting Rotation in 2004

I think KW asked him to be bullpen help in 2003, on the condition that he would get a legitimate shot at the Starting Rotation in 2004 That was his role with the Angels. They didn't think he could do the job, not sure why we think he can all of a sudden. The Angels had a solid bullpen and crappy rotation and still didn't want him in there.
