Mr. Showtime
Joe Cowley was on Sportspage on CLTV tonight, he said when he talked on the phone this evening to Jose about Frank, he was told "it was a done deal in regards to the Sox picking up his option." aboz56
Let's see the three worst things we could have happen this offseason so far have occured: 1) Lose Colon 2) Keep Frank 3) Keep Valentin What's next, Clayton as a backup infielder? kramer99
One reason i could see for picking up his option and not renegotionating it is.....and i know its crazy......but maybe a sign and trade ( my maggs/valentin to the dodgers idea)....i mean they cant afford this ...its the only thing i can think of:bang *Unless this news is wrong*

Jose is not worth $5 mil, so trading him now becomes even more difficult.
DBAHO
Please No, please don't tell me that's rite. C'mon I'd rather sign Ozzie Smith or sum1 from this board to play for less than a million than pay Jose $5 mill. KW's gotta hav a long hard look at himself if this is indeed true. kramer99
i said it was crazy...and im just trying to make some sense out of it...i hope it is a sign and trade, not neccisarily with the dodgers involving maggs but i can hope right??? U never know

kramer99
well i guess technically it wouldn't be a sign and trade ( they picked up his option ) but like i said, i just want to hope there is a reason for it...right now their payroll is at like $54 million with this for like 6 or 7 players, that makes no sense...like i said i can hope! greg775
Jose is not that bad. he is no Clayton. Didn't Jose whack 29 homers? I like Jose V.
witesoxfan
Jose is not that bad. he is no Clayton. Didn't Jose whack 29 homers? I like Jose V. I like Jose's 25-30 homers a year. I like how he kills the Cubs. I like how when he gets it going, he can be a very good player. I like his smart, aggressive baserunning. I liked his much improved defense this year. I didn't like his .240 average. KW wanted to bring in Guillen players right? Well, he found a damn good one. Ozzie's career average: .264....Jose's career average: .246 Similar, no? Jose is not worth $5 mill, plain and simple. I like him more then most on here....but not at $5 million. If Guillen can get in his head and Jose can hit .260 25 75, I will do some crazy things. Cali
I think I remember the Phillies signing Omar Daal, and then traded him to the Dodgers or some other team a couple years ago
