Jackson Holliday is probably headed back to AAA after today. Or he should. He’ll be good someday, but he’s lost.

Definition of overmatched

Mason Miller, closer for the A's hit 103.3 mph while striking out Volpe, Soto and Judge.

Down from 103.7 a couple of weeks ago.

His injury history is pretty interesting.

Dumped Alzolay from fantasy for him.

I expected him to at least be covering a ton of ground. That makes no sense at all.

The calculations and metrics were apparently based on the pitcher and his location rather than the shortstop.  That was the error.

Wow.  How does he still have options? ?

He was literally never optioned to the minors, so from a technical standpoint he has them all.  Granted he has played long enough where he could refuse an assignment and elect free agency, but then he would lose his entire contract I believe.

Ok, I guess that's what it comes down to, because he has fallen off this year, so better to take a bit of time to get right.

You are correct he has his 5 year rights to refuse the demotion, but then he would forfeit his contract and become a free agent. Nobody is going to give him a single penny, let alone the 35 or so million he is still owed in Houston.

With all honesty, the fact you're employed by the Sox and make this post is disheartening as f***. It's like you took the chance to jump on a simple category mistake by the metric company and turn it into some big (long settled debate) on the validity and utility of metrics in baseball.

It is utterly unsurprising that 1) the Sox stink as bad as they do and 2) they employ people that would go "metrics!" in response to a simple error in a tiny corner of the sabemetric universe as a "gotcha".

There is nothing that screams White Sox more than reveling in ignorance.

The Rockies are now occupying an unenviable place in the MLB history books.

More specifically, the Rockies have now trailed for at least part of all 29 of their games so far this season, breaking a tie with the 1910 St. Louis Browns for the longest such streak in history, per The Associated Press. Colorado currently holds a 7-22 record.

The last time the Rockies were either tied or ahead for an entire game was a Sept. 26, 2023, game against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
