In the last 30 games, the Sox are 10- 20, tied for last in MLB. Yet the ERA over that time is #3 in MLB.
Coaching.  Or in baseball parlance, managing.

That's a .333 winning percentage.  That's way better than the .250 we had been doing.

It's also called a serious lack of offense and an atrocious bullpen.

When a .333 winning percentage is a big improvement you know you are having a bad season!

If you erase the 3-22 start this team is still 24-46

They are, without a doubt, the worst team in baseball this season.

Struggled with where to put this since there's not much to celebrate and this thread is more about the bad kind of record chasing.

So we had the Kopech immaculate inning . He was the 1st Sox pitcher in 100 years. Some franchises don't have an immaculate inning. It's very rare but it is just one inning so doesn't really mean much .

Lost in that accomplishment by a Sox pitcher was what Drew Thorpe accomplished that never happened in Sox history.

He was the 1st Sox pitcher ever to have 4 straight starts of 6 or more inning giving up 3 or less hits and 2 runs or less.

Great job Drew Thorpe !

Kopech’s K rate is nice as well.  It’s a shame his ERA and WHIP suck as we are about to trade him.  The immaculate inning was nice cuz it shows teams that he can still get the job done as a dominant force, but his entire body of work this season is going to hurt the return on him unfortunately.

Thorpe has been better than expected.  He may never be a true ace but if his K rate increases, he is going to be a very good starter that can be dominant at times.

The bullpen has been the real confidence destroyer this year.  Theyve just beat their teammates down over and over again all season.  The amount of games where they had a late lead past the 6th inning that the bullpen came in and pissed away is insane.  You can't bring Katz back after this year, we have enough of a sample size to know he isn't the answer.  He absolutely benefitted from guys using spider tack

Leasure WHIP in April: 1.36, May: 1.11, June: 2.00, July: 3.00)

Kopech WHIP in April: 1.39, May: 1.32, June: 1.59, July: 1.72

Brebbia WHIP in April: 1.2, May: 1.58, June: 0.80, July: 1.29

Anderson WHIP in April: 2.14, May: 1.25, June: 1.34, July: 1.50

Banks WHIP in April: 1.97, May: 0.89, June: 1.13, July: 0.50

Shuster WHIP in April: 1.10, May: 1.30, June: 1.55, July: 2.00

Kuhl WHIP in June: 1.45, July: 1.58

All of these guys are straight garbage this year, outside of Banks & Brebbia (who's amazing May numbers bring down the rest of his average to awful stats)

The record shows it has been 18 times they took a lead into the 7th inning or later...and lost the game.

Only one time this season have they trailed in the 7th inning or later...and won.

Most of the problem is that this is just a bad bullpen.  Seriously at least 2 of the guys aren't on any other mlb roster but the Sox.  One of them is a kid learning on the job.  Another is a head case who doesn't listen to coaching.

Sox aren't even last in OPS over that period (2nd to last; but not last).
Managers don't win games, but they sure do lose them.

Getz has the trade deadline up his sleeve tho. We can still set the record if Garrett and Robert and crew are moved out.

True, though the unexpectedly common sense moves like releasing Maldonado could also offset these trades.
