Chasing Records

That's one of the other crazy things.

Say the Sox finish with a 37-125 record, which seems very possible, given their 31 wins right now.

The biggest single season swing in wins in the divisional era are the D'Backs, who had 35 more wins in 99 than they did in 98.

If the Sox matched that in 2025, they would be 72-90 next year 😂

72 wins would in 2025 would be the most beloved team in Sox history.

72-90 would mean massive improvement over the current product.

They need to be able to score 3-4 runs consistently, not the 0-2 runs they are doing way too often AND their young pitching would need to be reliable for them to make a significant jump.

Assuming they rely primarily on rookie/young unproven MLB talent again next season, it's hard to see them not losing at least 100 games, even with some improvement. They would need to surprise us with something unexpected like keeping Crochet and Robert (while getting them performing at all-star levels), making an unexpected significant addition or their young players avoiding rookie development

The Sox may well have room to improve 50 WINS from 24 to 25, and still not make the playoffs.

I can’t believe they’re really going to lose 120+ games. It shouldn’t be possible to be this bad, and it’s not like they’re just unlucky they are legit atrocious in all facets.

The Marlins and Rockies are terrible, and even they probably get 60 wins. We’re almost 30 games worse than that. Incredible.

That 1915 A’s team was the result of Connie Mack growing himself a crop of the best talent in the game, selling it directly for cash, which he stuck directly into his own pocket, as if he were some kind of baseball rancher taking his cattle to the market Kind of makes JR seem not so bad, but at least Mack delivered multiple championships. The teams preceding it were among the best of all time. He pretty much did the same thing again twenty years later, including selling Al Simmons to the Sox, along with all the other stars he dumped for straight profit

are they going to lose 120 games before the final homestand? 🤣

Reinsdorf really deserves watching them break the record at home

They need to go 12-10 to avoid 120 losses, zero chance that happens. They most likely go 5-17 and finish with 126 losses. And I think 5 is generous, this team has nothing.
