Two teams in the live ball era have scored 40 runs or fewer in their first twenty games...

That goes back to the 1920s.

2004 Expos 36 runs    Brad Wilkerson the best player, 67-95, 32 homers and less than 70 RBIs.  Last year in Montreal...even played some games in Puerto Rico.

The Kansas City Royals are no stranger to games where they do not score a run. Last season, the Royals were one of three MLB teams that were shut out in three straight games (also the Cardinals and Marlins), and back in 2017 they were only the 14th team in MLB history to be shutout in four straight games, tying a record.
