Cali
Rex, do you know what Reed hit during the Tournamnet?
Bighurt52235
Shame shame. I wish we had MLB'ers (All Star) playing just like that NBA does.
Rex Hudler
Not sure.... I think he was 2-3 in one game and had one hit in another, with a couple of 0-3's.
SoxFanForever
Thanks for the info Rexy. Glad to see that Reed is still getting the job done pretty well.
Gene Honda Civic
What's more troubling is the fact that the USA is eliminated from the Olympics... That system needs to be looked at... The US goes 3-0 in pool play. To take the #1 seed, and avoid a match-up with cuba. they only need to beat Mexico, who was 0-3 in pool play. But the system is single elimination. We all know what can happen in any SINGLE baseball game. US loses to mexico, Now has a 3-1 record, won't be in the Olympics; Mexico, at 1-3, by virtue of one victory over the US, still has a shot at the Olympics. ApplingsRevenge
Who cares? It's our game, and the better other countries play, the better for the game. I'd love to see golden rocket ships (ala Simpsons) take the World Series to Australia and Zimbabwae for playoff games before it's all said and done. Imagine a game seven, the Chicago White Sox vs. the Calcutta Runners for the right to play the winner of the Los Angeles Dodgers vs. the Copenhagen Knights..... I apologize. I just got home & I've had a few drinks. However, the globalization of the greatest game ever invented I'll stand behind. I won't stand behind my drunken state. Go Sox. YASNY
So much for Roger Clemens pitching for Team USA in the Olympics.
Pastime
LOL!!! So much for Roger pitching anywhere next year. It's too bad. He was one of the best. I think he's one of the Top Ten pitchers of all time.

Pastime
Yas, In every interview I've seen and heard, Roger comes across as a guy who is really tired. Not sick and tired, just tired. He wants to finally relax and plop down in his favorite chair to watch TV. Roger is exhausted. And he should be. I was in Comiskey Park in 1986 - Sox vs. Sox. I can't remember all the specifics, but I remember that Roger was almost unhittable, yet the Sox beat him. One of his 4 losses that year. I have loved watching him since then. I was 15 years old at the time. I think he's sick of the traveling and the tired old "routine." I don't blame him, either. I was lucky enough to buy his most valuable rookie card 10 years ago, and it's still in thick glass. It will remain there until my son's 16th birthday. (For the record, I have no kids.) Soxfest
That is weird to be 3-0 and lose to a 0-3 team and be out

That was the year Jose DeLeon beat the Rocket twice in a week giving him two of his four losses on the season. Clemens finished 24-4 during the best year of his career. I'm pretty sure Clemens filed for FA just to keep any options open in case he decides to un-retire to join his friend and fellow Texan Andy Pettitte for the Houston Astros playoff push next summer. If he hadn't filed, I believe he'd still be somehow tied to the Yankees. This way, he can negotiate with any MLB team if he wants to come back. It's a business move and a formality, but he is going to retire, from everything I've seen and read.
