2025 White Sox

Recommended Posts

Trying to project ahead. I assume that the Barons will try to close out the first half of season in first place. That means the. Core of their team doesn’t promote until early July.

Promotions for Quero, B. Baldwin, T. Tatum, Wilfred Veras, Bryan Ramos, Thorpe, Iriarte, K. Bush at a minimum. Gives Charlotte a chance to compete maybe in second half with Colson, Nastrini and Cannon still there.

Maybe Mason Adams, A. Dalquist in bullpen, Gil Luna, Garrett Schoenle, Conner McCollough too as possible promotions.

Get them 2+ months in Charlotte to give them chances at Opening Day spots in 2025.

I wouldn’t be surprised if a lot of guys get promoted directly from the Barons to the big leagues. Sox are going to trade everyone with value and release a bunch of guys without value. Might as well see Montgomery, Baldwin, Ramos, possibly even Gonzalez vs. Lopez, Mendick, Remillard, DeJong et al. I don’t think the Sox like Charlotte from a developmental aspect. But I could be wrong. It will be interesting to see if they let Maldonado hit .086 all year long. If not, maybe Quero comes up. Eder and Iriarte are already on the 40 man. Bush is going to have to be protected this winter. I could see Thorpe and Adams suffering through Charlotte cuz neither is Rule 5 eligible this winter.

Does anyone think major promotions will occur in late June / early July? Charlotte is about to become much better for the second half season. At least I hope…

Major promotions?

If I had to guess, I'd say Brooks Baldwin has earned a promotion, either to AAA, or the ML club. I could see Baldwin getting time at 2B if DeJong and Lopez are moved. Or he plugs in at AAA and Lenyn Sosa gets that one last shot to stick at 2B for a few months.

Elko, Quero, Turner and Burke - Elko is the only one of them who is currently heating up, but he's had a slow start, and they might want to see him regain his power at Birmingham, first. Terrell Tatum is Rule 5 eligible this off-season, and he already made AAA last year. Yes on him. If the Sox decide to move on from Maldonado, it may be because Stassi is ready to start getting reps. If he isn't, they could always promote Chuckie Robinson or Hackenberg, who would be as overmatched as Lee looked last year.  Wilfred Veras is also due for a promotion.

If they go nuts moving Fedde, Flexen, Kopech, Wilson, maybe Brebbia, Hill and Clevinger, then, yeah, Cannon, Thorpe and Shuster could move into the rotation.

If Pham and Sheets are traded, I can see DeLoach and Colas spending the last 2 months of the season on the Sox.

I imagine Getz will be active at the deadline, and the draft will force some promotions out of the ACL and low-A ball.
