JR isn't willing to eat the rest of his contract with 3.7 years still left to go. I can't remember the last time a veteran with a guaranteed contract voluntarily went down to "work on things." Abreu's probably the closest recent example, but they're actually a competitive team with someone to replace him in Houston. We have DeLoach, Fletcher and Colas, who they refuse to give another opportunity to. The MLBPA would also be fighting you on this one as well. Highland
This team isn't worth watching or getting pissed about. Can we stop that "stand up south side?" 1

They have to do something. Because this is ridiculous. They need to eat Pedro's contract as well - he's also ridiculous. it's an insult to the players for him to manage. If one is to believe JR, they don't even have cash on hand to write a one-off check to Benintendi. I would tend to agree that clearing him off the team and moving on from Hahn would be cleansing in a way, but we can't even jettison a manager because the owner doesn't want to pay 2-3 managers in the low millions (at best) simultaneously. He's certainly not going to reward an under performing player for giving him an easy out.

I would clean house just to get rid of the smell.

Actually I think Boston would be a great choice. Boston is constantly looking for outfielders especially LH. Benny had some success in Boston and maybe the Sox can split some costs to unload him. Even if the Sox picked up his entire salary, who is going to be willing to roster 10D right now?

Maybe they're playing Benintendi to prove to JR or even to 10-D that he's untenable in this condition. JR to eat the salary, or 10-D to take a trip to the minors to fix himself. I think he meant our complex but I dunno why Boston would compound their mistake of signing a lousy left fielder to too much money by trading for an even worse left fielder who makes too much money. That would be awesome, I'd encourage them to do it, I just don't know why they would.
