WestEddy
Right now, trade Kopech. That's like, his fifth clean outing as closer this year, right?

Teams will also have an eye for him as a starter for next season, so the Sox should really take their time to extract maximize value. And there are still questions about his control, so waiting will provide more surety.
CaliSoxFanViaSWside
That's a big 5-0 White Sox Weiner on $1 Hot Dog Night in Toronto. Speaking of weiners, Danny Mendick blasted a 2 out 2 run double high off the fence in LF to give the Sox their final 2 runs. Crochet pitched 6 innings of 2 hit shutout baseball. Leasure, Brebbia and Kopech each pitched an inning without any runs . Kopech K'd all 3 hitters he faced looking. Sox snap a 4 game losing streak with the rubber match tomorrow, Bassitt v. Clevinger. Weiners for everyone ! 1

As good as any 1 inning we've seen from him this year.

If he can pitch more like tonight leading up to the deadline he's as good as gone.

Crochet is an all star obviously. Mendick is an MLB player. This is how the Sox had been playing when they were on that 8-6 stretch. Why do you guys want to trade everybody who has a pulse on the Sox? Do u really think it'll accomplish anything except guarantee another 4-20 April next season or worse? You tank lovers/trade lovers just slay me. Don't understand it when you know this strategy didn't work before.

He's one of their few remaining trade pieces and they need to get it right. Dude was painting the corners at 100 MPH, so it should be a big return. Don't understand it when you know this strategy didn't work before. Greg the only guys likely traded are those guys who have only a year or 2 left on their contracts and/or who were signed specifically hoping for enough of a bounce back in their careers to be traded. Moncada and Eloy didn't stay healthy enough to even present that opportunity. They'll be gone next year along with their inflated salaries. Soroka , Brebbia, Hill, Kopech, DeJong, Pham ,Wilson , Flexen all likely gone if they can find buyers for them. No one will take Benintendi's contract.Mendick is a 30 yr old jouneyman. Who are they supposed to keep ? Next year regardless is looking like a 3rd straight year of 100 losses no matter what they do unless JR opens his wallet back up a lot more than expected . And even if he does what then ? Anyone any good costs more than JR would pay. The leftovers are going to be guys just as likely to be bad as good but who cost a minimum of $10-20M per year for multiple years . This is where Hahn had to live and most of his signings in that price range were terrible. Edited May 22 by CaliSoxFanViaSWside

Holding him longer does not guarantee better results.

Good, because I hope Clevinger is hit in the head with multiple come-backer line balls by the Orioles, and retires to eat oil leaks in the ocean. 1

He had control of the fastball unlike his last outing but was low in the zone with it and high is better. Will it last? Time will tell. He has the tools. Falstaff
Crochet was awesome and then the pen, whoa!! Leasure and Kopech were throwing strikes, what a thing of beauty.

bmags
It is kinda nuts how crochet has both operated as a normal starting pitcher (not a hybrid opener/bullpen game) and also been very very good. Hope that the shoe doesn't drop so soon.
