How much is a guy like Fedde worth in a trade?

Is Feddue (see misspelling in an above tweet which testifies to his largely undiscovered status amongst all but the most diehard fans outside of Chicago and WASH) not Fondue about the best value play in the game today, other than Jurickson Profar's 2024 contract coming out of that wasteland in COL?

SELL NOW.  DICTATE THE MARKET AT HIS HIGH.   All teams acquiring with best offer/s out of the gate get an extra 4-5 July 2024 starts to add even more additional value and separation in tight WC races...especially in the NL.

Fedde currently ranked 14th overall in fWAR amongst pitchers at 2.4.  Given his cheap salary and extra year of control, he should be in demand by small and mid market teams.  A 50 FV positional prospect plus a solid secondary piece should be very much achievable.

The Os feel like a good fit. We all know the names. Plenty of combos that would be very intriguing, and obviously, Sox know the system.

There were some rumors earlier of Fedde to MIL for Pratt and Letson. Jimmy had said Sox liked Letson and Pratt just snuck into the Top 100 and is an up the middle player that is young and with upside.

I'd really like a savage bat tho but that just seems unlikely with Getz small ball and speed philosophy.

Sox have a few pitch to contact types where you would like great defense behind them. Trade Fedde and half the bullpen to Phil’s for #88 prospect Caba, said to be an elite ss with 55 hit tool. Move Colson to 3rd with Wetherholt at 2nd.

Something like this is exactly the type of return the White Sox should be looking for for Fedde

A young position player and young pitcher, both with upside.

We are currently looking at Orioles, Guardians, Mariners, Phillies, Brewers, Dodgers , Yankees, Twins, Astros, Braves, Cardinals, Padres as potential deadline buyers

And there is never, ever, never enough pitching on the trade market, especially since the extra wild card.  Dealing pitching seems to always be better at the deadline, especially the mediocre kind.

Probably a quite similar value to Zach Eflin of the Rays.

Not even close.

Eflin is set to make 18 million next year and has accumulated 0.7 WAR this year so far.

Fedde is set to make what…. 7.5 million next year and has racked up 4 WAR.

Night and day.

Crochet and Fedde for Holliday.

f*** it.

I’d probably do it, haha.  At least we would finally have one superstar player that we either keep missing out on or that is always injured (see Tatis Jr., Harper, Robert).

I’d guess If they swapped Fedde with the Os the return would be something close to Norby and Beavers.

Finish the deal with a player like one of their young Latin signing SS's (such as Lirazano or Alymeda) and we are in business.

I meant in the sense most ranking systems have Eflin higher due to the proven track record...Fedde makes it through 3-4 more starts with around a 3 or below ERA, yet another bump up in value.

Also...just jettisoning salary is more important than talent return, despite freeing up all that Wander Franco extension money.

That money will instead be ticketed to Junior Caminero extension.  Also likely to want to dump Arozarena arb year/s.

Eflin has less trade value than Fedde… end of story. ?

Not if there’s 1 out of 30 GM’s that values him more highly and is willing to pay the price…like the Dodgers with, even though he rarely gets to the 120 IP threshold, he’s valued in the same way as a guy who consistently goes 150-180.

4.8 fWAR last year, 3.2ish track this year.  Average over last 1 1/2 years extrapolates to 4 fWAR x 9=$36ish million buying the guy on FA market in pure cash.  It’s even higher if you weigh 2023 more heavily than 2024…although recency bias tends to balance that out towards the lesser 2024 pace.

Fedde lacks that extra full year of recent high level performance stateside.

I see a lot of words that aren’t readily comprehensible after a story has ended.

Fedde > Elfin. Period.
