Is that against the unwritten rules? Would be interesting to know if this guy who stole home gets plunked with a pitch next time at bat.

After the ball hits the catcher's mitt, start looking like you're going to run. When the catcher decides you're not going to run, and lobs it back to the pitcher, take off for second. bobbydanks
a guy that had a little league batting average in little league has 3 pages because he might be able to steal a base once every few days as a pinch runner. news flash that would require the rest of the team to get on base in the first place. so instead we got a 30 year old guy that can't catch or hit to be our 5th catcher while Quero probably went 3-5 again today. GreenSox
i wasn't paying attention to the ages when the Sox were sifting through the utility infielders at the end of spring; but Dejong, Mendick, Lopez and Remillard are all around 30. Gonzales, the one they DFAd (and the one who started in CF for the RedSox last night) is 23. This all reeks of Pedro. Bad managers don't like to deal with young players: they don't like their moments of immaturity and they don't like having to actually teach as required for young players with potential.

Certainly good enough to play for a team well above .500 and competing for a WC spot from the dreaded AL East. Leave it to the White Sox to be trotting guys like Sheets, Benintendi and Nicky Lopez out there instead.
ChiSox59
Been checked out lately (can you blame me!?) but what happened here? Looks like Robinson was added to roster 6/16 but was never appeared in a game and is still playing in AAA. Just added to 40 man but left in Charlotte?

Probably had to be added to the 40-man by a date or he became a free agent. He's probably the most logical 3rd catcher at AAA right now, so they decided to hang on to him.

He had a deadline in his contract that he had to be added to the 40-man by a certain day or he could leave. And with Stassi done for the year (talk about more wasted money) Sox needed some catching insurance.

Getz thought it was vital to keep 29 year old catcher Chuckie Robinson, who may never even play for the Sox this year, yet how many of his own acquisitions, young players/prospects has he DFA to make room for more awful veterans on the 40-man roster? God forbid Maldonado actually gets injured, the Sox could pick up any random catcher that is on the waiver wire like a Seby Zavala or Omar Narvaez. The Cubs picked up Tomas Nido and DFA Yan Gomes just this week. There are always crappy catchers available. Getz literally sh1ts himself when he thinks he will be short a garbage veteran and makes stupid related 40-man roster moves getting rid of much younger players to ensure a roster spot for a crappy veteran. Bailey Horn, pitching well in the Red Sox minors now. What a surprise! What exactly does Getz know about scouting and development? He’s a failure. Gonzalez is 27-years-old, for what it's worth. But he was DFA'd to make room for Brebbia (who started out as a dumpster fire and is now getting better). Romy hasn't been amazing, but he'd be one of the better bats in the Sox lineup. Just like Declan Cronin was DFA'd to make room for Tim Hill, who was hot garbage. WestEddy
The Mets claimed Duke Ellis off waivers from the White Sox and assigned him to Double-A Binghamton. Ellis is a 26-year-old outfielder. He made his major-league debut with the White Sox this month but has spent most of the year in Double-A. — Tim Healey (@timbhealey) June 21, 2024

southsider2k5
We lost another young player for a 3rd string catcher who won't be here in 2025, and probably not rostered in 2024. Captain Panic strikes again.
