Iguana
imagine if the Sox actually gave him some Offense in those 1-0 games he lost. he could have 23, 24, 25 wins easy if the sox just scored a couple runs. i remember twice he lost a 1-0 game. southsider2k5
He lost 2, 1-0 games, and a 2-1 game IIRC. 24 wins is an easy possibility. And at 24-6 he wins the Cy Young.
BrandoFan
Holladay had two of the best hitting team of 2000s- Red Sox and Yankees-- in his division. E-Lo had....Royals? WTF? And please, for the love of God, don't give me the "Loaiza beat the Yankees" crap. When you face Detroit, Indians and Twins so much, you need to be THAT much better in terms of ERA. Wins? They are as much a function of hitting, fielding and bullpen as anything else....

He was a life-saver for the Sox. I enjoyed watching him pitch the few times I saw him on TV. I think he will continue to be the team ace. BurlyMan56
If it wasn't for Loaiza in the 1st half, there would of been no Alomar or Everett. There would of been no hope and we would of been done in July. He didn't do to well down the stretch but we wouldn't have been so close if it wasn't for him...Great Season E-Lo

DBAHO
I still think writers r gonna think E-Lo could have been a 1 year wonder, plus Hallway had to contend with da Yanks and Red Sox. But they're both great pitchers who both deserved it. What bugs me, is how more ppl think Pedro Martinez deserved it instead of Loaiza. :fyou
Pastime
Dbaho, You keep up that negative talk about Pedro and he's going to throw you down on the ground. As long as you are an old, fat, defenseless man, that is.

BrandoFan
bugs me, is how more ppl think Pedro Martinez deserved it instead of Loaiza Why? Pedro was a better pitcher in all respects, much lower ERA. Faced Toronto and NY, league leaders in runs scored, a whole bunch of times too. The only reason Pedro didn't win another CYA was because he missed a few starts.

Faced Toronto and NY, league leaders in runs scored, a whole bunch of times too. The only reason Pedro didn't win another CYA was because he missed a few starts. That's the reason. He didn't take the ball every five days like a starting pitcher is supposed to do. That caused the BoSox to have to juggle, scramble to fill those starts he missed. witesoxfan
Didn't Elo lose 1-0 THREE times, twice to Detroit and once to Baltimore? And I know he lost a 2-1 game once or twice and lost 3-1 or 3-2 to the DRays too. This f***ing team, if it ain't one thing, it's another. 2000, 01, and 02, our offense is f***ing killer but we can't get a pitching staff. 2003 rolls around and our pitching is stellar, but now we can't find any offense(unless our 220 homers count....which they don't). If someone can figure this team out, let me know.
